Todd Dean Christensen

Beloved son, husband, crew-member, co-worker, and friend, Todd Dean Christensen sailed on to his heavenly home on November 20, 2014.  He was at his parent’s home after major surgery.
Todd was born August 6, 1962 in West Seattle.  He was married in 1996 to Leslie Hoag until 2011 when she preceded him.  Todd’s interment was on November 28, 2014. He is survived by his parents, Dean and Lucille Christensen.
Todd graduated from Mt. Rainier High School (1980) and the University of Washington (Engineering, 1987).  He worked for Boeing, Tyco, and 20 years with the City of Issaquah, lately as Engineering Manager.
Todd enjoyed many interests, especially sailing.  He started at the age of 13 and later competed at the highest levels, including the F18 Catamaran World Championships and many Hobie Cat 16 National Championships. Additionally, he sailed big boats, crewing for 1st place in a U.S Offshore Championship. He was also a craftsmen and, with help from family members, built his dream house.
Todd was a servant at heart.  He humbly thought of others first and was always ready to sacrifice his time for someone else’s project.
A celebration of Todd’s life will be held on Saturday, December 13th at 2 pm at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 109 SW Normandy Rd, Seattle WA, 98166, (206)-241-1606.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name for new sailors at Sail Sand Point ( or the Todd Christensen Memorial Fund (

Unfortunately, I never met Todd but I can tell from his friends and his accomplishments that he has many of the same traits as his parents. His parents have always spoken highly of Todd and I am sure he did the same with them. I know if he were still alive he would continue to be proud of the wonderful parents he had. They have always treated many relatives with their hard work and kind words. I wished I could have known Todd also.

My condolences go out to the family and friend of Todd. I would like to leave this scripture in John in hopes that you find comfort in your loss.John 5:28&29 "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment."

Todd was as nice as a person could be. I went to Marvista with him, and was on the same shool bus for years. I didn't see him since graduation, but I stopped by his house two months ago and got to meet his parents. I was looking forward to seeing his great smile and reuniting our friendship. I miss him greatly.
