Fred was my best buddy. We did a lot of fun together. He always liked a good joke.

Fred, thanks for the mentoring, ideas and helping me change out that water pump. You thought you were going on vacation, but I insidiously snuck in some free car repair!

Thanks for having my back all those years, I certainly appreciate it. I'll make sure to take good care of your daughter, and your grand kids!

Abby & Devin,

Our prayers are for your strength and encouragement. May the grief in your heart be turned into the Joy of the Lord. Nehemiah proclaimed that the Joy of the Lord was his strength to keep on living victoriously. May your children's hearts be touched by the Spirit of God. May they experience the strength that comes with working through a hardship with God as their life-partner. I pray that they too will discover that life is not perfect, but with God as their Guide, they can learn valuable wisdom from even the painful events.

With the passing of time, the sting of death will be lessened by the mercy and grace of God. For the Lord said He would personally bind up the broken hearted with His healing presence.

Dear Abby, I am so saddened to hear about your Dad, I did not know about his illness as we had not been in touch for years. Now I think about our many adventures together with a heavy heart. The last time I saw you was in the early '90s when we visited Portland while Fred was with Donna. We got to see you then with our granddaughter, Paula. I am glad to know that he had your love and company always, that is such a blessing. I will remember Fred with loving thoughts forever.

Fred gets the "best neighbor award". I will truly miss seeing him. Always there if I needed him. Easy to talk to. Never complained. All around great guy!

Ab,

I am so sorry for your pain. I'm glad you were able to have so much one on one time with your Dad. That will always be a treasure. You were and are an excellent daughter. It doesn't make the pain any less nor does it make any of this easier, but I'm glad he is breathing easy now and being active and free. I love you and I am always here for you.

Dad,

You've left a hole in my life that no one will ever fill. You were more than a parent... you were an advisor, a confidant, a sounding board for ideas big and small, a cohort in mischief and my very best friend. I will love you for as long as I am alive and my world will be better for knowing you.

Thank you for giving me a great childhood and for being a continued force into my adulthood. You've shaped me and by doing so shaped the people my children will someday be.

I'll miss you - but as I promised... I'll be okay.

I love you.

Abby
