Obituary

Dorothy Colella-Ullrich

Born in Seattle March 21, 1940 and passed away in her Des Moines home March 16, 2015.

Dorothy took over the motherly duties of her 4 younger sisters at an early age & helped manage her father’s business, Sunnydale Construction. After the Port of Seattle bought her father’s land, they relocated the business to South Park. She retired in 1996. Her Italian heritage inspired her love for cooking spaghetti, Italian peppers with sausage & baking biscotti & pizzelle cookies. Dorothy had a zest for entertaining & was the happiest when surrounded family & friends. Dorothy touched many lives, she will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her sister Augusta. She is survived by her loving husband Ron, brother Laurence (Betty), sisters Marie & Barbie (Ron), many nieces, nephews, dear friends & church families.

Family & friends will celebrate the life of Dorothy on Saturday March 28th at 10:00 AM Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 19030 - 8th Ave S, SeaTac WA. Burial at Riverton Crest Cemetery followed by a reception at Normandy Park Cove. Memorial contributions may be sent to Medic One or St Judes.

Dear Ron & Family,

My heart goes out to each and everyone who has had the pleasure to know and love this amazing, gorgeous woman. Dorothy made me the best home made Biscotti and told me her secret ingredient.

Dorothy had the most electrifying-magnetic personality.

I will miss her with all my heart.

Dorothy, until we meet again....I will bring the Biscotti!

I love you. Patti Jo

We all loved Dorothy for her zest for life and her motherly role model for her family and friends. She was forever supportive and loving in no other way anyone else was. Dorothy was creatve and her presence was always uplifting. She is with our Lord and singing with the angels - and still watching over us all. You will be so missed and thought of often. Thoughts and prayers to you Ron - you were her rock and love of her life.

One of my first memories of Auntie Dorothy was trying on her heels when I was 5 years old and it wasn’t long before I was wearing red lipstick and darkening my mole like Auntie and I even had platinum hair for awhile in my 20's. We both loved rhinestones, lipstick, high heels, Barbie Dolls, flowers, waterfalls, nature, and all things that sparkle. Auntie Dorothy was a mother to all, a sweet angel who spent her life making others feel welcomed, happy, and loved. She made every holiday spectacular with her delicious pizza pie, best biscotti in the world, and oh, the glorious decorations. Her home was a magical oasis of angels and orchids, flowers and playhouses, and mostly her lipstick mark kisses, cheek pinches, and never too many xoxoxoxoxox on every card. She loved our big, wild family with all of her heart and embraced all of us with great warmth, her sparkling blue eyes to match her jewels and a special light of love followed her wherever she went. The matriarch of our family and all of our hearts are broken because she made this world so much better. I know she will be looking over us from above and I am positive her wings will be the biggest sparkling pair they could find! We love you, Auntie Dorothy. You will be in our memories and hearts every day and live there always. xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Known to you through Norma & Mel has been so great. You have always had that wonderful smile and warm greeting. Troy's birthday brought us together January 2014. Pizzelles I believe were given to Troy. God bless you as you have now gone on to his promise and relieved from the pain you endured.. He will enjoy you so much. My thoughts and prayers to Ron and your family.
