Dear Betty Jean,

When I think of all the people I have met in life reminds me of a patchwork quilt of faces and memories. I will always remember Howard, and miss his presence along side of you. He was a good man!

Our family's condolences, Betty.

To My Sister, Betty & Family:

A Poem: YESTERDAY

Where have you gone since yesterday,

Left us lonely here?

Today you seem so far away,

Who yesterday was near.

No map of ours that we may use,

Your journey can we trace.

We only know you've reached your Home,

And seen your Father's Face.

At a time of such unexpected sadness,

Love & Memories Endure.

And they will stay with you forever.

May God Comfort & Heal You.

Love, Your Sister Marie

Mike and I will miss Uncle Howard. I always enjoyed seeing him at family get-togethers. Mike credits Uncle Howard with introducing him to backpacking, which remains a passion of his to this day.

Uncle Howard was the best. His knowledge of the outdoors and cooking over the camp fires will always be remembered.

He would take us fishing on the Duwamish is his boat and we would always bring home fish to cook. Camping, clamming, bakery picnics the list is endless. Thank you for the great memories.

Thank you, Uncle Howard, for the great backpacking trips you led to Myrtle Lake in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness where we set up camp and caught trout in the lake. It was my first exposure to real wilderness camping and roughing it without the luxuries of home. We all learned from your wilderness camping skills and enjoyed the meals you prepared over the campfire with the trout we caught. I will miss you, but I will always remember the good times we had.
