Gerald Guite

December 3rd, 1943 to June 28th, 2015

Gerald “Jerry” Robert Guite, age 71, passed away peacefully, although much too young, after battling serious health issues for several months.  He was the first of eleven children born to Robert and Madeline Guite of Duluth, Minnesota.

Jerry was a successful local businessman and community leader.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and earned his MBA from Seattle University.  Jerry served for many years as a Commissioner of the Highline Water District.  He donated his services as an auctioneer for many charities over his business career.  He is survived by Patty his wife of 48 years and his son Robert, along with his five brothers and five sisters and a multitude of nieces and nephews.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be at the Bonney-Watson Funeral home in Sea-Tac (206-242-1787) on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 3:30pm.

I met Jerry and Patty in 1993 when I started dating his brother Jon. I remember Jon took me to AAA Liquidating where Patty and Jerry were working. They both were very nice and gracious. Jerry always made me feel welcomed and after Jon and I were married Jerry was first to let me know I was part of the family.

Throughout the years Jerry always had the same demeanor - calm and happy. (Even when he was playing " a game of "Smear" with his 3 brothers). Him and Patty were always on the go. Always visiting friends and family across the country. Family and friends meant a great deal to him. He likes to "keep in touch". I have no doubt he will continue to "keep in Touch" one way or another with all his loved ones. Just to let us know he is still the "Patriarch" of the Guite Family.

Dear Patty (and family),

Don Mason just shared this news with me this AM, at the 33rd District breakfast at Maggies that Jerry would often attend. I knew Jerry by accident, one day I said I would take over chairmanship of the 33rd District, this was 4 terms ago, and how I met Jerry. He was a PCO in the 33rd and a Member of the 33rd District Leadership Committee I assembled years prior. Along the way he became a friend, it was not long ago I received a email reply from him after a inquiry on how he was doing.....he would send me stuff out of the blue at times, late last year I mentioned to him and others about local candidates, one candidate from Des Moines emailed me that Jerry and Patty Guite had left an envelope in her door with a generous check for her campaign, that was Jerry, he always put his money where his mouth was....he had a hard shell and a soft center...I am a better person for having him in my life, it was always such a pleasure to see his smiling face across the table from me at Maggies, he was a tireless and good Republican and am proud to call him my friend as well my colleague. I was very fond of him. Warmest regards and God' blessings to you and yours, Craig Dougherty 33rd Legislative District Chairman

So long old friend. It has been a fun ride from political campaigns to prize fights. The Public will never know the extent of benefits they enjoy because you lived.

When you complete the final leg of your journey and your name is announced by the gate keeper, “Guite is here”, the judges will look to one another and chuckle, “Of all his qualities, Jerry was never “Plain Vanilla” in his life. Life was given to be lived.”
