Lawrence "Larry" Lee McDaniels

Larry died peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2015 in Burien at the age of 82. He was born on May 14, 1933 to Oscar and Josephine McDaniels in Ellensburg, Washington.

After graduating from Renton High School in 1952, Larry immediately went to work for the Sears Catalog Distribution Center. He spent four years in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1956. Larry returned to Sears and retired after 35 years when the distribution center closed in 1987.

For many years, Larry also worked a second job at Longacres Race Track. Larry went to work for The Boeing Company in 1987 and retired in 1995. Larry was a strong, hard-working, generous, and caring person. The positive attitude that he displayed after his stroke was amazing.

Larry loved his family, friends, fishing, camping, sports, wood-working projects, the color blue, and John Wayne movies.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Robert and Glenn. He is survived by his wife, Lynelle; sister-in-law Noreen McDaniels; Uncle Elmer (Barbara) McDaniels; many nieces and nephews and their families; several cousins; and numerous caring friends.

The love and support from family and friends is greatly appreciated! The weekly visits by nephew David P. McDaniels were very special to Larry. Special thanks to the many wonderful medical and hospice team members who helped both Larry and Lynelle. At the top of the list is Dr. Thomas Hulse and his team. The caregivers at Burien Best Care Homes provided loving care. Franciscan Hospice gave us excellent assistance the past few months. Highline Hospital, Burien Nursing and Rehabilitation, and Highline Therapy Services played important roles in helping us adjust to our new situation.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial Park. The address is 16445 International Boulevard; SeaTac, WA.

I was so sad to hear of Larry’s passing. Although I had only met him once, I knew he was a good person through conversations with Lynelle. The Celebration of Life service was very touching, and it was good to know that so many people loved him. I was happy to (re)meet June and Paul and some of the rest of the family. I share your sorrow. Take care, Judy Parsons

Larry was a wonderful man who will be missed. I always loved the devotion shared between Larry and Lynelle. It is what love is all about. We're all blessed to have had Larry come into our lives.
