Robert E. Freier

Obituary

Robert E. Freier was born on July 2, 1928 in Plevna Montana and passed away August 7, 2016 in Federal Way, Washington.  He was married to Norma for 63 years, who proceeded him in death in May, 2016.

He attended school and resided in the Rosebud County area prior to his entry in to the Navy, where he served from 1946-1948.  After leaving the Navy, he met Norma in the Seattle area, where they resided and raised their children.  Bob drove Metro buses for many years and also drove for the Highline School District.  Thinking 18-wheelers might be easier, he went to work for Garrett Freight Lines, starting out on the loading dock.  From there, he started with short haul trips which progressed to long haul driving.  He proved many stories to the family from these trips!  He purchased a Honda 750 and spent many years convincing Norma to ride along with him – then taking many trips with a motorcycle group.

Upon his retirement, he spent a month with his son, Russ, who was living in Phoenix….laying by the pool, having a scotch and water…until Norma made him come home!

Golf was big in his life – Norma finally figured she should learn to play so together they were often found on the courses all over the valley, and continued to golf when they spent their retirement years in Arizona.  They both learned to snow ski when Becky and Ron were almost through high school.  There were many ski vacations, which again, provided a lot of fun stories!

He was preceded in death by his wife Norma, his sisters Shirley, and Florence, and brother Harold, and his parents.

He is survived by Sisters Eleanor, and Agnes, children, Bob, Russ, Ron and Becky, along with six grandchildren, 6 grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
