Obituary

Sarah Katherine “Kae” Bailey, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at her home in Seattle.  She was born on August 13, 1929 in Yakima, WA to John Vesper and Grace (Bean) Klingensmith.

Kae grew up in Seattle where she graduated from West Seattle High School in 1948.  She married Donald James Bailey on July 17, 1948 in Seattle. They were happily married for 52 years until his death in 2000. Together they had three daughters, Gail, Kim and Joan.

Kae enjoyed her family, children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and hosted many wonderful family and holiday dinners.  Kae and Don were wonderful grandparents who loved to take their grandchildren camping at their property in Teanaway.  She never missed a ballgame, dance recital or swim meet if she could help it. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, collecting hummingbirds and doting on her grandchildren whenever she could. She was forced to slow down in her last years due to illness, as she suffered the debilitating effects of Parkinson’s disease.

Kae was preceded in death by her husband Donald Bailey, daughter Gail Bailey, and granddaughter, Celia Kelly.

Kae is survived by her daughters Kim Brown (Robert Brown Jr.) and Joan Kelly, both of Seattle, WA. Her Sister, Joan Stretke (Allen) of Sault Ste. Marie, MI and nephew Mark Stretke.

Her grandchildren Krystal Brown (Nathan Green), Sheena Brown, Jacqueline Brown (Carl Bailey), Robert Brown III, Omari Brown, Melissa Kelly and Tyree Culver.  Her great-grandchildren Jalyce Satterwhite, Jovan Satterwhite, Nakiya Green, Dre Fanning and Carlin Bailey.  She was loved by many friends and family who will miss her greatly.

Great memories of childhood

You always had something fun planned for the kids that came over to play with your children. Crafts, cooking , projects! Always fun and involved. Your family was very lucky to call you mom , grandma, sister, wife. Friend to many. May you rest in pease

I'm sorry due to the planned storm I didn't make your service.

For the children and family of Kae Bailey,

I was sad to hear of your loss. When the Lord calls our loved ones home he leaves a gift of memories in exchange. I have lots of good memories when Kae and her sister Joan and my sister Janice and I would get together and visit. I'd like to keep in touch with Joan. We left our phone number with the answering service at the funeral home. Since my husband doesn't drive and I don't drive in Seattle we rely on our daughter and son to get us around. We've decided not to drive to the Memorial Service due to the bad weather. Our hearts are with you just the same.
