Elva Marie Solberg (age 93) celebrated her life to the fullest, until she passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. Elva was born in Fiske, Saskatchewan, Canada on October 18, 1923, the daughter of Alton and Edna Ness she came to the United States as an infant with her parents and older sister, Enid. The early years of Elva’s life were spent in Kalispell, Montana. In 1942, she married the love of her life, Joseph Solberg, and they spent many wonderful years together, until his death in 1981. If you had the privilege to know Elva, you would know how much love, kindness, and compassion she had for anyone around her. Elva would offer her assistance to anyone who needed it whether you were a family member, friend or even a casual acquaintance. Whether you needed your hair permed, or to be driven to an appointment or taken grocery shopping, Elva would always be the first to volunteer to help others. Elva was very involved in her grandchildren’s lives and they have fond memories of the time spent with her. They loved her tuna fish sandwiches, pecan puffs and homemade donuts. Elva spent her life volunteering her time wherever she could. She volunteered at the Bellevue Parole Board and Auburn Food Bank for over twenty years. The Auburn Chamber of Commerce awarded Elva Auburn’s Citizen of the Month Award in June 2007. These are just a few examples of the extraordinary woman that Elva Solberg was. She lived a long and happy life and will truly be missed by more than just close friends and family. She was a strong woman and an amazing role model.
