I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. I always remeber him as being happy!! When I think of him, I think of the time he broke his leg falling into the city dump!! He will be remembered and missed. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I sure like looking at my pictures and remembering all the silly, wonderful things dad shared with me. I will miss him greatly, but know he's at peace. I rejoice in the knowledge that I will be with him again someday.

I have been Anita's lifelong friend and Herb became a close friend also. He will be missed by many besides his families. He was a wonderful, caring person and I enjoyed the times at his and Anita's home when I would go visit them. Rest in peace, Herb. Phyllis

I have such fond memories of cousin Herbie going back to my childhood in New Orleans when he played Santa on Christmas Eve. Aunt Lillian made his suit and the Gowland, Escude and Cook children had no idea it was Herbie until we heard his distintive laugh. Mother Aunt Eloise and I watched an old home movie taken by Charles Escude just a few weeks ago and there was Herbie in that suit!

Our love and prayers to Anita and children. Love, Judy

Dear Mrs Anita Ahten and family,

I was shocked and speechless to hear of Herb's passing. I was calling on October 29 to advise him of the forthcoming Stoneridge November Annual Meeting when you shared your sad news. It is so difficult to comprehend...As President of Stoneridge Owners Association, I met with Herb several times, once for him to explain the origin and history of the Stoneridge Owners Community and at other times, to receive his encouragement to see better days ahead. He was always there for me, when he wasn't out fishing or BBQing with his splendid and large family. He was a master of smoked salmon, proudly caught, which he shared during our Annual Potluck festivities. He was kind, patient, gentle, humorous and wise. I shall miss him greatly, as we all will. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all. With great fondness and sympathy. JT Carr, President, Stoneridge Community Owners Association.

All you Ahtens are in my thoughts and prayers. Your Dad was always at your swim and dive meets and was such a great support. I remember him with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He was so proud of you all! Much love to you.
