Obituary

Pearl (Johnson) Everson was born December 20, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois   When she was approximately six years old she moved from Chicago to Tacoma, Washington where she lived until she was 7 years old. The Johnson family lived in Tacoma until Pearl was about 9 years old when they moved to Vashon Island.  Pearl left the island when she was 18 years old; when World War II broke out she moved to Seattle and went to work for the Boeing Company.  While working at Boeing she met the love of her life, Wallace (Wally) they purchased their Kent property and married in November 1949.  In 1954 she moved with her husband and children, Lynn and Wally Jr. to Kent where they began building their dream home.

Pearl loved many people and things; her younger brother Thor (Skook), her children, grand children and great-grandchildren; Spring and Summer, her garden of many flowers and the occasional vegetables, her humming birds, collecting antique glass and furniture and just ‘bumming around’ with anyone she could talk into taking her shopping.  Her all time favorite things to collect were Fenton, Hummels and friends; all who met her fell in love with this spry caring little old lady.

Pearl is survived by immediate family her daughter, Lynn Matteoni and son-in law Norman (Tony) Fowler; Grand-Daughters, Katrina (Tom) Hill, Brandy (Chris) Clift and Shannon (Mario) Gonzales; and Grand Son Jesse Everson.  Great Grand Children, Tawnie, Bradley, Sierra, Garrett, and Tatum, Great Great Grandchild, Brandon; and Brother Thor Johnson (Helen); and a very large extended family.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Wallace, her son Wallace Jr. (Kipp), her parents Edla and Axle Johnson and her brother Axel Johnson.

Pearl passed peacefully at home after a brief illness on February 10, 2014.

I grew up in Kent, with Bradley Hill. All the times I went to the Hill residence and was welcomed in like family. Pearl was always so kind and tender towards me. She always had a smile on her face that lit up the room and made me feel so welcome. Katrina and Tom were like a second family to me, I love and appreciate everything that the Hill family and the Everson family have done for me. Pearl will be deeply missed. I am thankful for the opportunity to know such a wonderful person.

Mom, You were such a special person. Every where you went you made great friends; those who came to our house always were welcomes into our home with warm hugs and kisses. After papa passed like got so challenging for you; you met the challenges head on and we got everthing taken care of. Your most important desire was to be 90 years old! You made it and we had such a wonderful holiday season. We had a New Years Eve gathering that will always be remembered. I had never expected up to get sick so soon after your birthday and I am so pleased that I had the priviledge to bring you home to be with us all for your final days. You will be so missed; I love yah until we meet again!

For my dear dear Pearlie.

She loved life so much! But more importantly, at least from my perspective, she loved me and I, her. I miss my sweet little Swedish sister and will now have to be the sole defender against all the Norskes in the Everson family. Rest in Jesus, my precious Pearlie. I look forward to seeing you again. In the meantime I will remember you with love for all time!
