Ralph A. Mill

August 15, 1945 – March 15, 2014

Born to Carol A. and Victor L. Mill, Ralph spent most of his young life growing up in the south end of Seattle playing little league and then Babe Ruth baseball.  He graduated from Mt. Rainier High School where he made friends that he would stay close with through his whole life.  He was active in sports and was captain of the basketball team.  Ralph or “Ram Patrol” (as family and friends called him) attended Centralia Jr. College and then transferred to the U of W where he received a BA in economics.  Ram then continued his education at WWU and received his Master’s Degree in Mathematics, which he put to good use over the years.  His first real job was in New York working for a large insurance company.  Eventually his next position brought him back to the Pacific Northwest where he worked for over 25 years as an actuary for United Pacific and Unigard Insurance.  A longtime time resident of Renton and an avid collector – after his retirement Ralph owned and operated a shop in downtown Renton called “Loulies Utter Clutter” named after his favorite grandmother.  In his spare time, Ram enjoyed playing soccer, golf and buying and selling “fine items” on line.

Ralph passed away peacefully with his faithful companion Molly at his side, he is survived by his loving mother Carol, sister (s) Rhonda (Larry) Alyssa (David) brother Eric (Amanda, Lydia, Parker).

Preceded in death by his father, Victor L. Mill, step father George Love and brother, Jeff Mill.

A private service was held.

Remembrances in Ralph’s name may be made to Wolf Haven or an organization of your choice that protects wildlife.

Actuarially speaking – A life too short lived.

Ralph,

Thank you for the football games, the horse races, the Puyallup fair and for spoiling us as kids at Christmas time! Thank you for my braces so I would have straight teeth and thank you for helping me get my first and only insurance job, and for everything else you did for me growing up.

You don’t have to worry about Molly, she is in good hands and I know that makes you happy!!

Rest in peace Ralph and know that you are missed!

Dear Ralph, I wish I could have saved you. I was looking forward to the Husky games and the gourmet meals you prepared. I think I did the things you wanted;

#1 I didn’t die before you did.

#2 Doris and I found you.

#3 We rescued Molly.

#4 She has a good home with Jim and Julie and they love her.

I love you and miss you,

Mom

Cousin Ralph,

Being the oldest of all the cousins I looked up to Ralph and loved hearing the stories of his adventures in life. Always a loving son and grandson, I learned from your generosity of time and spirit how wonderful our family is and how you valued that.

Handsome, intelligent, athletic!

You always remembered my boys Sam and Zach at Christmas with fun gifts like river rafts and sports equipment.

I loved “Loulie’s Utter Clutter” and I will always remember your letter to Loulie at her service ending with “I think Loulie was a good idea!”

Thank you for being the leader of the grandkids Ralph…you will be missed.

The brother I remember from years past was a brother who taught you things – chess, soccer and never to get out of the car to fight with someone. If someone is willing to get out of their car to fight – chances are they were tougher than you. Still good advice. The brother I remember from those times was full of laughter – one of my favorite things was to figure out how to make him laugh – sometimes by accident but most times on purpose. That is the brother I will try and remember – the one I spent a “long and fun day” with. As I often prayed – I hope you have found peace my brother.
