Obituary
Feresika Jacinta Semi Bird, age 62, was born to George Semi Bird and Sina Tovio on March 5, 1952, in the Swains Island – Tokelau and raised most of her life in American Samoan and San Francisco, California. Feresika passed away in Federal Way, WA on April 1, 2014.
Feresika is survived by her children and their spouses: Dennis, Dawn and her husband Kenyattah, Desmond, Edwalina and her husband Naipoo and Edward Jr.; her twelve grandchildren Makiah, Zoaye, Azai, Adrian, Anthony, Acelun, Amira, Anaia, Ariana, Amylynn, Oriana and Chanelle; and two older sisters Fuatina Faleagafulu and Moliupu Bird as well as extended family.
Her passion was spending time with her family, sharing her faith and love for Jesus Christ and giving of her life in service to the Samoan community and helping the homeless.
I will truly miss you Sika. My heart is so full of shock when I heard the bad news. You will be forever miss.

Although this is a difficult time for us to deal with that you are physically no longer here, I am at peace knowing that you are exactly where you deserve to be ENJOYING the presence of our Almighty Father!
You have prepared me well to continue running this race with the faith and love for God that you instilled in me as a child.
I will continue the great work and legacy of service you have left serving our Samoan community and will keep your LIGHT and LOVE for the Lord shining to the world.

It is with great sadness that I regret that I am unable to attend Feresika’s going home celebration. She is a wonderful spirit and will live on in our hearts. I feel blessed to have known her and worked with her. she will be sorely missed.
Feresika will be greatly missed. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family. I regreat that I cannot be with you when you celebrate her life. May there be much rejoicing over the life that she lived and the way that she served.

It is so sad to learn that Feresika is no longer with us. Her energy, kindness and positive attitude will stay with all of us.

I’ll miss you so very much as my colleague in providing professional Samoan interpretations in the courts for our people. Please ask God Almighty to send a replacement for you; He knows well the need is still here and your passion for assisting our Samoan community not only in the courts but in all other areas of life. You were truly on a mission and a saint in the making, be that advocate for us from heaven. Rest in the peace and light of Jesus Christ who alone guarantees life eternal by our faith and good works. My heart is breaking, still, from the news that my dear friend Sika has passed. I will remember her for her kindness toward mankind, her people, all people, her selflessness to help others without thinking of herself and her infectious laugh. But mostly I will remember her as my sister who prayed with me and who walked with me on this earth in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. Feresika will be sorely missed in our Courts. She was a wonderful light and happy personality and so professional and respectful to work with. My prayers are with her family as they go through this difficult time, but know your Mother made a difference in our lives, even in the small touch she had with us. God be with you all.
Feresika was such a kind, lovely lady. Her words of encouragement every time I got to work with her always touched my heart and gave me strength to go through whatever “it” was at the time. She was such a warm light to be around and will be terribly missed.

What can I say about Sika, it was always being exciting being around her or just hearing from her. She had so much energy. Reaching out to anyone who needed help and a great big heart for everyone no matter what. One thing that really stood
out was she really loved the Lord with all her heart and she is singing a joyful song to the lord.

I know we have not seen much of each other in the last decade, but I was so lucky to have spent nearly the whole decade before that seeing you on a daily basis. You were such a huge part of my life, and you helped influence the person I am now. As a mother figure to me, I always looked up to you and loved you dearly. I spent more time at your house then anywhere else, and I was always welcome. Looking back, I can only remember you smiling. No matter what was going on you were smiling, and it was real. You always had hope and you were always planning for the future. You had big ideas and an even bigger heart. Although my life took me in a different direction, I know you loved me like your own family and would do anything for me,and I loved and still love you like mine. I will never forget you and will always be honored that you accepted me the way you did. I have missed you over the years, and I will miss you even more now.

Dear Dawn and Yattah, grandbabies, my deepest sympathy to you and the family. I had the pleasure of meeting Sika at your wedding and other family events. She was a beautiful person inside and out. My fondest memories of her was her passion for life and for God and her love for her children. Even though the last time I saw her or all of you was back in ’91, I could still see her big ol’ smile that would light up the whole room. I could still hear her voice yelling at you guys when you got in trouble. I can still see her at church praising God like it was just her and God in the room. What a beautiful example of “true” worship!
May the peace of God continue to rule in your hearts and may you all continue to find comfort in Him. No matter how many years have passed or passes, you guys are always in my heart, thoughts and prayers! I love you guys!!!

I will forever be grateful for the Lord putting Dennis and beautiful Sika in my sisters life. Thru them and their love my sister loves Jesus! The Bird-Reid family are truly a blessing. Sika has left a huge impact on my family. She has raised amazing children and thru them and their children she lives on and continues to bless others and lead them to Christ. Love you all!

~ Hi my mom I miss u so much more than ever before. I’ve been going through so much pain and grief I don’t know if I’ll ever pull through? Please ask GOD to heal me, I’m not sure if still listens to me after all the pain n headache I’ve caused? Please forgive for all the wrong I’ve caused. Everyday I feel like I’m paying for it by all the crap I have to deal with, I’ve learning new coping skills from my therapist that gets me by at least for a week. I know the devil doesn’t want be to healed he causes so much BS every time I need to meet with her. Please make a way to make things easier in my life I write to your baby son every week, he writes me back too, please be with him and please be with us as we go to his court on Tuesday let god protect him n keep him strong and to recover from his illness. I always remind him in my letters of fulfilling your wishes for him to become the best daddy to his beautiful little girls, don’t make the selfish mistake that our dad did to me and by selfishly turning his back on us as if we never exist. I greatful for his donation towards your service fees humble hearts is a blessing for the giver. You are an amazing women I’m proud of you for finishing college you were always envied by Both men n women for you talented gifts GOD blessed u with the love and passion you had for the court system. As a little girl I always remember playing under your desk eating skittles with Edward on Saturdays! I enjoyed meeting all your coworkers. You were the greatest cook you sure knew how to make real food to fill the soul! You are an amazing mother and grandma I’m so hurt that you to be taken leaving your grand babies at an age where they cannot understand or handle the pain in their fragile hearts be with each of them everyday please be with your sisters I thank them from my heart for making your service beautiful your nieces did everything from the cooking to the flower decorations. It’s hard to believe that your gone it feels like dream that won’t end everyday I sit and wonder if your spirit is is still with us? Why did this happen? Ary is hurting so bad she cries for you and asks why did did you go? The kids got sick last week from a virus from school ami threw up and was crying for you she kept screaming I want mom, heart broke when I heard her say thAt. Why did you go mom. Was it your time did you let go? Did something go wrong that you couldn’t hold on? Did you see your mom coming to say its time to let go? Your sons are having a hard time dealing with your death two of them are really messed up mentally that caused them to go crazy. I’m trying so hard to help them but it’s draining me mom you tried that you too tried to save them, only God could do the job if their willing to call on him? I tell the girls that your an angel watching over us and she has to fly to be with every one. I love you so much a word I couldn’t say when you were were here. I live with this pain everyday and I’m so broken inside that causes me to want let go two. But I know that your heart will break if I I do something stupid I know that I won’t be with you if choose to let go. I gotta go now but I will never let you go you will always be in my Heart.
