Obituary

Valerie Ruth (Pendexter) Loveys

Valerie Ruth (Pendexter) Loveys passed away on April 14, 2014 at the age of 38, losing her long battle with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy at Kindred Hospital in Seattle Washington with her husband Sean by her side.  They were the love of each other’s lives.

Valerie was the daughter of Carleton and Carolyn (Widell) Pendexter of Reading, MA. Besides her parents, she leaves a sister, Wendy P Jones and her husband Chris of Valencia CA. She was particularly fond of her nephew and niece, Brady and Catelyn Jones and had recently enjoyed meeting her new niece, Lucy Wodke. Additionally, she leaves her Uncle John and Aunt Jodi Pendexter of Moultonborough, NH, Uncle Ken DeVivo of Bel Air MD, along with several cousins.  She also had a profound impact on her mother-in-law, Barbara Cochrane, and her sister- and brother-in-law, Martine Loveys Wodke and Austin Loveys, and their families in Eugene OR.

Val attended the Carroll School in Lincoln MA and graduated from the Eagle Hill School in Hardwick MA. She also attended Paul Smiths College, Paul Smiths, NY and Middlesex Community College, Bedford, MA and had worked at the Walgreens Pharmacy in Reading MA prior to getting married and moving to Seattle WA.

Val enjoyed taking on parts in live theater, watching movies, teaching Sunday school, and particularly enjoyed watching episodes of “Little House on the Prairie.”  She loved animals, was proud of her heritage and accomplishments, and will be sadly missed by all who got to know her.

Memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Providence Transitions of Seattle.  A celebration of life will be held at Bonney-Watson in Seattle.  Memorial services in Massachusetts are planned for this summer.

I didn’t have the honor of knowing Val for very long, just over a year I think, but I enjoyed her very much. I took care of her haircare needs and really had fun braiding her hair and curling it in Nellie Olson style curls.

You don’t have to know someone for long to have them impact your life.
