Over a Century of Cremation Care
BONNEY WATSON has offered cremation as a disposition option since our first crematory was built in 1912. Back then, families who chose cremation represented only a small portion of all families in the area. Today, however, Washington has one of the highest cremation rates in the country; about 75% of people here are cremated. To best serve our families opting for cremation, BONNEY WATSON maintains a modern crematory facility at our SeaTac with a number of affordable cremation options.
Why Do Families Choose Cremation?
An increasing number of families in Greater Seattle are choosing cremation as a simpler, more affordable alternative to traditional burial. Many are drawn to its environmental benefits, flexibility in placement, and alignment with personal, philosophical, or religious beliefs.
Cremation is recognized as an acceptable form of disposition by most major faiths, including Roman Catholicism; however, it is not currently permitted by Orthodox Judaism, Islam, the Eastern Orthodox Church, and some Fundamental Christian sects.

BONNEY WATSON is unique among providers because we operate our own on-site crematory. This ensures your loved one remains in our care at all times and minimizes any chance of error. Families are welcome to tour our facility, and we follow a strict code of ethics that reflects our commitment to dignity, honesty, and trust.
With our team caring for every detail, cremation provides families the flexibility to honor a life in the way that feels most meaningful, with or without a visitation, funeral, or committal service. Families may hold a memorial at one of BONNEY WATSON’s funeral homes in SeaTac or Federal Way, a local church, or another special venue. Others choose a private gathering or celebration of life at home, by the water, or in a favorite park.
On-Site Cremation Placement Options
At Washington Memorial Park, BONNEY WATSON offers a variety of placement choices, including: burial in one of our urn gardens, scattering in a garden or boulder estate, or above-ground placement in a niche wall or columbarium.
The Mountain View Columbarium features an Asian-influenced design with indoor and outdoor niches and stained glass showcasing the Northwest landscape, from Mount Rainier to the Olympic and Cascade Mountains.
For a more natural setting, the Lake Urn Boulder Garden allows families to create a lasting memorial by placing remains in a private boulder near a tranquil water feature.
