Richard Bertil Melin

December 25, 1938 - September 28, 2026

Richard (Dick) Melin was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Bertil and Hazel Melin.  He was a Christmas baby.  His mom prayed that if she was to have a pastor for a son, that he would be born Christmas morning and that her baby would be a boy.  He wasn’t a pastor, but dad was never afraid to share about Jesus.  He lived in Minnesota during his younger years, with his 4 other siblings, that have all now went to be with Jesus.  He later moved to Washington and went to school in Tacoma.  He then joined the Coast Guard and that is when he met the love of his live, Brenda.  They had 5 children and were married for almost 64 years. Dad also was a Pierce Co. Dept for almost 15 years but had his ear drums blown out during a couple of calls. After he retired, mom and dad spent all their time together, even moved to Post Fall ID for a few years but then moved back to WA and to Ocean Shores. He was heartbroken when mom left us and was ready to go right after.  He stayed with us for 3 more years.  Our dad was a stern man but loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was proud of each of them.   We all will miss him very much, but this is not goodbye, but we will see you again.  We love you, dad!
