Mary Etta Whittle, beloved mother and sister, age 57, passed away on July 8th, 2009. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shauna and son Ethan. She is survived by her son, Joe Piazza.
Mary was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, to Charles and Louise Whittle on July 15th, 1951. As a child, she enjoyed swimming and playing with her brothers, Lee & Greg. She spent every summer, in Sandpoint, Idaho, and northeastern Montana, which was a coming home for her parents. As a teenager, she very often would babysit for her older sister, Viola and enjoyed visiting her sister Karen in San Jose.
In 1969, she graduated from Glacier High School. She was only one credit away from having completed her BA in social sciences. In her professional life, she was an efficient office manager with a great work ethic.
She cherished family above all else. She moved to California in 1976 where she met and married Joseph Piazza, the father of her son Joe. She had a very generous nature and even when not feeling well, never forgot the birthdays of her loved ones. She returned to the Seattle area 11 years ago to help care for her father in his final year of life.
Mary spent several years highly involved with the AA organization where she was instrumental in helping many people through difficult times.
She loved music and was an avid reader with an extensive library of books and CD’s.
Mary will be sorely missed by her son Joe Bools, family and her many friends.
A table was set up in Mary’s honor at the Glacier High School Reunion this evening. That is how I found out about Mary’s passing. My deepest sympathy to her family. I will always remember Mary for her beautiful smile and her love of life. She was a wonderful person.
My deepest condolences go out to the family. I knew Mary in junior high school at Sunset and attended high school at Glacier as well. She was always the kindest and most caring person ever, she always treated everyone with respect and dignity, truly the most gentle soul.

Seeing Marys picture brought back fond memories from the house near military road. mary was a spirited Girl always with a huge smile.. she is home now.
For the family of Mary:
I was very close to Mary in Junior and Senior High as Lee was our common link. Mary and I had such good times as young people. I was always envious of her clothing and we would trade our outfits when we got to school and switch back at the end of the day. I have always thought of Mary and am so sorry that she is gone.
I hope that all the fond memories you have of Mary will help you through this time.
Mary was such a wonderful person. She will be missed.

Alison
Mary was a very person in my life as we dated all through my college days. I met her after I had graduated from Glacier and we had many great times together and I loved her with all my heart. After we went our separate ways, we still remained in contact and visited each other since there was always a special place in our hearts for each other. I am deeply saddened to hear of her passing. She was a very special person to all who came to know her and I know many will be very sad to hear she has left us. God bless.
I didn’t know Mary very well but she was a good friend to my brother Michael Kirk & what I did know of her, she was a very nice gal…

Viola, Mary and I were roommates along with another close friend for about a year before Mary returned to the Seattle area with her husband, Ron. Since I discovered this obituary I’ve been searching for your or Karen’s contact information, but haven’t been able to find either of you as I cannot remember your married names. If you read this message here, please send an email to the address I’ve entered, OK? I had wanted to keep in touch but lost the paper address book in which I’d written your address and phone number. I remember you and your wonderful husband fondly. I miss Mary Etta so very much!
Thank you so very much! I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Best,
Ellen
