Doris was the nice lady with the naughty poodle next door. She was always friendly to this shy girl. She will be a part of my childhood memories forever.

What a joy my Aunt Doris is and was to be around. Always positive and welcoming she embodied the spirit of hospitality her parents, my grandparents exemplified, at the restaurant in Redfield, South Dakota, "the 66" Cafe. She shows how positivity and a welcoming heart can overcome the sorrow of widowhood. Her sister, Jean, is my mother and has been widowed for 4 months. Doris' recent demise is hard on all of us back in the midwest but we are heartened by the remembrance of her smile, hugs and warmth. She now rests well with her beloved, Sig and her parents, Ann and Levester. I am sure she is as ebulient in the new world as she is in the old. We never die when we are held in the hearts of our children, grandchildren, and friends. We will never forget of stop speaking of this great lady.

Rest in peace, Aunt Doris. She is my Aunt Jean's sister and she welcomed me to her home several times over the years. Thank you for your warmth and hospitality. I offer my sympathy to her family.

As Rick & I got to know Doris better over the last few years, we feel like we'd gained a member of OUR family, even though we are not "officially" kin. But not only that, in Doris we had a sister in Christ who understood that although Rick & I were not Lutheran but are members of a Southern Baptist church in Oklahoma, it didn't matter as "Oh well, we're going to the same place (heaven)," as she simply put it. For those who put their trust in Christ (who love Him and serve Him), there is no doubt we will see Doris when we get to Heaven. What a day of rejoicing that will be!!! You can be sure she is rejoicing even now :)
