Phoebe led a long and varied life. Starting with her marriage to Tom Thrush, she began a life of traveling as the wife of a Naval Officer. She raised three children in all parts of the country and even in Puerto Rico for several years. In addition to those responsibilities, she began singing with the Sweet Adelines Choruses in many cities which was the outcome of initially singing with a quartet while attending Manchester College.  Over the years she was with Sweet Adelines, she not only was a stalwart of the singers, she also filled many official positions within the leadership.  Years later, her daughter Pam also joined the chorus and they shared many musical adventures together.  Also, for many years, Phoebe utilized another of her talents and sewed many of the dresses and costumes worn by the choruses.  In the end, the International Sweet Adeline Association awarded to Phoebe, at their International Championship event, the very rare and prestigiously awarded 60 Year Pin.  To date, only three women in the organization have received this award.  She became a legend with people who love and sing music.

Dear Pam and family - I joined Jet Cities Chorus in approximately 1970 and immediately was greeted by Phoebe. She made everyone feel welcome. We grew to be great buddies as we both were seamstresses and we used to get together to cut out and sew our costumes. She was a good friend to me for many years. I know she has a important job in heaven. She'll be a wonderful addition to the angel team.

I joined Jet Cities Chorus in 1993. My very first retreat, I roomed with Phoebe and Pam. What a hoot!! Lots of jokes, laughing, a missing earring that Phoebe found later in the shower that was tucked under a....well, let's just say skin fold. Every time we started reminiscing through the years, Phoebe and I would chuckle all over again. Pam and I quartetted for a while so spent even more time together outside of chorus and grew to deeply love them both. What a loss for us but Heaven's gain. I will look forward to seeing them again when it's my turn to join the Heavenly Chorus! My sincerest condolences to all of Phoebe's family. What a gem of a lady!!

Phoebe was the best grandma I could have. I spent alot of time with she and grandpa when I was younger. I will never forget the farm on the hill. We played in the barn, flew kites there, baked all sorts of things and had many family gathersgatherings there. I will also never forget camping with the good Sam's and many advenatures in the minI Winnie. I regret that I didn't spend more time with her as of late. I hope she has reunited with grandpa, my mom and my sister. I know we will all be together again someday. Love you and miss you grandma.

Phoebe was Jet Cities first Outstanding Member and nobody will ever surpass the legacy she left. Many of us had chorus costumes she sewed herself, and remember sewing parties at her home in Auburn. She was always fun, as well as caring. No doubt she is already gathering angels to sing with her.

Dear Phoebe,

May you rest in peace with your loved ones who have passed before you, together again with our Lord and Savior. Your friendship for many years was priceless, along with singing together in a chorus of magic, sewing many costumes and making memories to last a lifetime. I cherish the beautiful mantel clock that once belonged to your family. In Loving Memory - - Carol
