Obituary

Adela Elena Peterson

July 8, 1936 – May 17, 2018

On July 8, 1936, a vibrant, loving, and generous spirit was born in Laboulaye, Argentina.  She was named Adela and joined her older sister Alicia and her parents Modesto and Adela.  As the sisters reached school age they moved to Cordoba where the girls were enrolled in a Catholic boarding school.  Soon they moved to Buenos Aires where they would finish school.

Adela would go on to become a Secretary at the Bayer Company and eventually move on to a similar position for the Argentina Navy.  By 1965 she decided to go to Los Angeles to study and improve her English skills, fully intending to return to Argentina.  It wasn’t long before she was fully employed as a Travel Agent and soon became Manager of the May Company Travel Agency in North Hollywood, California.  She would eventually retire from AAA Lynnwood.

In 1974 Adela met, fell in love with and married Richard Peterson.  Soon Richard was transferred to Seattle, where she discovered yet another love…the Puget Sound area.  Although they and their family were transferred to other parts of the U.S. her heart remained in the Puget Sound area and always looked forward to getting back to nature and the arts that she enjoyed so much.  In later years Adela and Richard were finally able to fulfill many of their travel dreams and visit many areas of the world that seemed impossible in their earlier years.

Adela was a kind, caring and generous wife, Mother and friend of many.  Her greatest joy in life was always her family.

Adela is survived by her husband Richard, daughter Cristina, son Eric and daughter-in-law Frances, all of Seattle, her sister Alicia Moreno, her niece Carolina Moreno and her nephew Martin Moreno, all of Bahia Blanca, Argentina.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Epiphany Parish of Seattle on June 9, 3:00 pm

Adela will be interred at Tahoma National Cemetery.

Her family asks that in lieu of flowers or remembrances donations be made in her memory to Abused Deaf Women’s Advocacy Services (ADWAS) www.adwas.org

Richard, Christina, Eric, Francis and family. We are greatly saddened by the loss of Adela. We remember her as a loving mother and wife. We also remember her clever wit and happy disposition. She was fun to talk to and brought a welcome perspective and insight from her roots in Argentina. She will be missed. Dave and Joan Rice
