Terresa:

From Carlo:

I wont forget you David, nor your son. I remeber the story David told me as to why you guys were in Hawaii, and I was surprised when your family moved back to the area where David and you were from, due to that court thing…You guys came to Lanai and drove my truck, spent some time, then I left my Harley at your house when I left town…then came back..I remember the big ole cane spider on my motorcycle..David showed me that it was a harmless Cane Spide…i wont forget him nor you nor your son…take care of your son, and yourself….unfortunate thing,,,life goes on, make the best of it…..I am sorry I could not see the three of you again.

I got married to a wonderful Chinese lady from Honolulu, named May , Lia Fung Ping, now May Marchetti. been married for two years now.

From Carlo…I moved to Maui, went broke in Lanai after the strike…still in Maui..still teaching SpEd..living in a two bedroom house with my wife…

The best neighbor I have ever had, he was always there to lend a hand with anything that needed to be done. He helped me with my race car without ever being ask, and his automotive knowlege was extensive. When he moved out his landlord not only gave him is deposit back but an extra $100 because of the work he did to the house and yard; I have never seen that happen to anyone else in my life! A true example of what a great man he was. He hated leaving Maui, but he did so to make better life for his wife and son. I feel privileged to have known him.

A lot of crazy nights hanging out, be it at the 5 Point, Mecca or what have you. One of the best bartenders I’ve ever had the honor to witness and an affable and funny person to boot. The sorrow cannot defeat the good memories. Rest well my friend.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. I have great memories of Dave at The Mecca. We used to go see him after band practice back in our old Local 808 days. I am so sorry for your loss.

I knew David a very long time ago — and have a lot of amazing memories — and was so happy to hear from him last fall, after so many years. Terresa and Adrian, my heart goes out to you… I remember babysitting Adrian as a baby. David was so proud of him and wanted to be such a good dad. My love to all David’s family… he was intensely smart, funny, kind, loyal, self-depricating… I wish I could honor him today with my presence, but I am too far away. I hope you are at peace, David. My thougths are with everyone who loved him.

We are so sorry for your loss of David. We are praying that God will give you peace and surround you with His love. One of our best memories of “Daav” was that he could memorize huge passages of scripture. It was amazing!! Faith and Pete…he hid God’s word in his heart! Sending our love to you and your whole family!! You are in our thoughts and in our prayers.

Dave lifted me off my feet in a bear hug every time he saw me. Every time. He always asked about my health, work, what I was up to. Eagerly curious about everything, it seemed. Sharp, caustic wit. He seemed so connected to so many people. I’ll miss him terribly. My condolences to his family and many friends.

David was always loved and will be remembered in love. Perhaps now is the time to tell those whom we love that they are loved now. I’ll miss you David and your memory will always be a part of my life. And to Tereasa and Adrian, my heart breaks for you and you will be in my prayer. I ask for Gods’ grace and strength in your lives. His love can sustain you!

David saved my life so many years ago by being the one bartender in town who made me feel like I was welcome every time I walked in the door. He almost single-handedly re-invented the business for Dick Smith, and Dick was wise enough to let him do it. He was more than that, though, he was a good man and a trustworthy friend. The space he filled in my world is now so damned empty.

You were nothing but an abusive drunk who tried to teach me lessons with your fists. You couldn’t even teach me how to tie my shoes without trying to hit me. Anyone who thinks that you’re a good person has been lied to. You were nothing but an empty husk of alcohol and cigarettes.

I’m glad you told me that you were going to kill yourself. I knew you were going to do it. I didn’t stop you, and I still do not regret that. I definitely made the right choice. I should have killed you in self defense when you broke your finger against my head during one of your rotten alcoholic benders.

Rot in hell, and I hope all of your shitty alcoholic friends join you there.
