Obituary

              Ace (Bill) William Elmer who was born in Seattle, Washington on August 13, 1931, passed away surrounded by his family, on May 6, 2021. 

              Bill was married in 1952 to MaryAnn Ruhlen of Vashon Island who predeceased him.  He is survived by a brother, four daughters, seven grandsons and eight great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his black lab, Lady, whom he adored.

              Bill grew up in Boulevard Park and lived in the South Seattle area for most of his eighty-nine years.  He attended Boulevard Park Elementary School and graduated from Highline High School.

              In the early 1950’s, Bill enlisted in the Navy and served his country during the Korean War.  He worked as an airplane mechanic while stationed in Okinawa.  After the war, he and MaryAnn raised four daughters and eventually purchased his own cabinet shop, Olsen Cabinet and Millwork.   During the few spare moments of free time he had, Bill enjoyed building model airplanes and trains.

              Bill was a passionate family man.  He loved his family and friends above all else and was always available to comfort, protect or simply listen to any one of them who needed his attention.

              We will deeply miss our father and grandfather, as he was for so many years, the core of our family’s existence.
