Obituary

Edmund Gerard (Jerry) Fox was born June 25, 1938 in Butte, Montana, a hometown he was proud of and returned to visit frequently.

Jerry’s family moved to Seattle when he was a child.  He attended Sacred Heart School there until grades 9 and 10, when he went into a Jesuit seminary, Holy Redeemer College in Oakland, CA. Jerry graduated from Butte Central High School when his family returned to Montana. He played both baseball and football for his school teams. After attending Western Montana College in Dillon, Jerry joined the U. S. Army and served with the 82nd Airborne Division.  He later received an Associate Degree from St. Anselm College, Manchester, NH to complete his education.

After his army service, Jerry went to work for the Canadian Indemnity Insurance Company in Seattle. He moved on to the Hartford Insurance Group, transferring to their Portland, OR office, then to Spokane, and Manchester, NH. He and his young family returned to Seattle and he later retired from the Hartford as Marketing Manager there.

Jerry and his late wife, Linda Gillette, owned an insurance brokerage in Lakewood, WA. Jerry was a friend of Bill W. for forty seven years, something he cherished. His favorite pastimes were golf, fishing, or telling a story with an Irish point of view and accompanying brogue!

Jerry is survived by his two sons, Patrick and fiance Marcet Evens, Matthew and his wife Kim, and Jerry’s grandchildren, Andrew and Evelyn.  He also leaves his sister, JoAnne Guiberson and brother-in-law Michael, their children Karen and Kevin as well as great-nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends. Jerry was also considered to be a part of his first wife Beth’s family, the Schumachers.

I knew Jerry when he was a marketing rep for Hartford. He was liked by everyone. Always in a good mood. Linda Gillette was a good friend of mine and I was so happy for the two of them when they got married. He will be missed by many.
