Obituary

Iola M. Pfeifer

Iola was born on August 27, 1921 in Gordon, Nebraska. She died on June 15, 2003 in Federal Way of natural causes.

Iola Young married Clair Pfeifer on February 27, 1942 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. While raising their three children, she worked at Boeing during the 1950’s and together they owned and operated Cristy’s Tavern in Renton throughout the 60’s. When they moved from Burien to Mason Lake in 1972, she opened her beauty salon and operated it until her retirement in 1984.

Iola was a member of the Mason-Benson Community Hall. She loved to travel in their motorhome, read and garden – particularly tending her roses. But her biggest inspiration in life was her family who will miss her dearly. From Iola and Clair’s courtship days to today, Leon Clair’s brother and his wife, Margie, were inseparable.

She is survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leon and Margie Pfeifer of Kent, son and his wife, Merle and Christena Pfeifer of Puyallup, son and his wife, Richard and Linda Pfeifer of Algona, and daughter, Lynda Blake of Kent; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2003 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday, June 22, 2003 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial, 16445 International Blvd, SeaTac. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial, 16445 International Blvd, SeaTac.
