He is survived by his loving mother and father, Shannon ‘Scheetz’ Smith and Joshua Smith; his older brother, Desmond; and his twin brother, David.
Though his time here was short, Benson filled it with moments that remain vivid and dear. He was a strong kid. Those who met him knew his kind eyes, soft hair, big feet, and the funniest faces. He brought joy in simple, unforgettable ways through the expressions he made, the attention he gave to the people around him, and the quiet presence that already felt so distinctively his own.
Benson was taken too soon, and his loss is deeply felt by those who loved him. In his one month of life, he was cherished as a son, a brother, a grandson, a cousin, and a nephew. He was a treasured baby boy whose moments of wonder, strength, and sweetness will not be forgotten. He will be remembered for the way he watched the world so closely, the smiles he gave to those he loved, and the comfort he found in being near the people who loved him most.
