Irma Lee Sims, born on August 22, 1956, in Seattle, Washington, to Pastor Alice M. Adams and Mr. Robert Sims, Sr., peacefully departed this life on September 23, 2026. Irma was a woman whose presence brought comfort, joy, and encouragement to everyone she encountered. Her loving spirit, beautiful voice, and unwavering generosity were the hallmarks of a life lived with purpose and compassion.
Irma was a devoted member and lead vocalist of the choir Voices of Joy, where she poured her heart into ministry through song. Her favorite selection, “No Need to Worry, God’s Going to Bless You By and By,” reflected her steadfast faith and served as a message of hope to all who listened. Through music, she uplifted souls, strengthened believers, and reminded many of God’s promises.
Beyond her musical gifts, Irma found great joy in cooking and feeding people throughout the community. She expressed love through her meals, her hospitality, and her desire to ensure that others were cared for. Whether preparing a plate, offering a warm smile, or opening her home, Irma’s kindness was a ministry all its own. Her warmth, service, and joyful presence will be deeply missed.
Irma was preceded in death by her mother, Pastor Alice M. Adams; her father, Robert Sims, Sr.; her stepfather, Malcolm Adams, Jr.; and her siblings, Robert Sims, Jr., Billy Ray Sims, Deborah Sims, and Aaron Lee Sims.
She leaves to cherish her memory her spouse, Michael Thomas; her siblings, Darnella Sims, Pastor Janice Adams, Pastor Dr. Carol Williams, and Sharon Adams; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, choir members, and members of the community whose lives she touched.
Irma’s legacy of faith, music, compassion, and service will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her voice, her kindness, and her devotion to God’s people will continue to inspire generations to come.
