Minnie P. Watkins

November 1, 1942 - April 16, 2026

Minnie P. Watkins was born on November 1, 1942, in the warm embrace of Henning, Tennessee. Minnie was the cherished daughter of the late Cleveland Watkins and Selena Fleming Watkins.

Minnie was not only a beacon of love and joy to her family but also a pillar of strength and compassion to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her parents and her beloved siblings, sisters Clara and Barbra, and brothers Bill and Sam. Her sister Grace passed shortly after her. Her legacy, however, continues to thrive in the lives of those she leaves behind—her loving sister Hattie Reeves, her devoted daughter Kim, her beloved granddaughter Jasmine, her dear grandson-in-law Mark, and her treasured great-grandson Dion. As well as her 1st cousins the Conner family.

Minnie’s life was a testament to the power of kindness and dedication. An alumna of Bellevue Community College, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, a fitting tribute to her lifelong commitment to helping others. For 30 years, Minnie served as a social worker for the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), touching countless lives with her unwavering compassion and understanding. She was known for having a big heart, an abundance of patience, and a wit that could light up any room. Her stern yet understanding nature made her the neighborhood grandmother that everyone knew and loved.

Beyond her professional achievements, Minnie was a woman of varied interests and passions. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was shopping, watching western movies, or trying her luck at the slots. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family and talking to her friends, filling every moment with laughter and warmth.

Minnie’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Inez and Bill Williams, who served as her second parents when she first embarked on her journey to Washington State. As well as the Smith Family: Wallie, Darren, Mark and Gary. The love and support they provided was a foundation upon which Minnie built a beautiful and fulfilling life.

In Minnie’s passing, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit. She will forever be remembered for her kindness, her humor, and her ability to make everyone feel like family. As we say goodbye, we hold on to the memories and the love that will continue to guide us.

We love you, Minnie P. Watkins, always. May you rest in peace, wrapped in the love of those who have gone before and those who remain.
