Richard "Rick" Henry Osborn

December 9, 1950 - January 13, 2026

Richard Henry Osborn, known to most of us as Rick, was 75 when he passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, in Tacoma, Washington. Born on December 9, 1950, in Sunnyside, Washington, he was the youngest of five children born to Robert Edward Osborn, Sr. and Florence (Found) Osborn.

Rick built a life grounded in quiet strength and steady devotion. A man of few words but deep presence, his calm demeanor and thoughtful nature left a lasting impression on those around him. When Rick spoke, people listened—his words carried weight because they came from a place of sincerity and care. He found fulfillment in his career as a cement finisher, taking great pride in the precision and craftsmanship of his work. His dedication to his trade reflected the same care and attention he brought to every aspect of his life.

Outside of work, Rick embraced life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed camping and road trips that allowed him to explore the outdoors and create meaningful memories along the way. An avid tennis player and enthusiastic supporter of kids’ sports, he found joy both on the court and cheering from the sidelines. Card club for decades meant sheepshead with friends, or poker when Eric and Tom were older. Cooking was another passion—he loved preparing meals for family gatherings and sharing time around the table. Hiking and travel with lifelong friends and family generated many memories and broadened his perspective. Family reunions, weddings, graduations, births, birthday celebrations with his in laws, and nieces and nephews are a huge piece of his journey. His life was well lived.

He is lovingly remembered by his sister Linda; her daughter Julie; and grandson Matt. Rick shared fifty years of marriage with Nancy as they raised their family across Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Lakewood, Colorado; and Seattle, Washington. Together they nurtured a loving home for their children: Eric; Megan Greene (Ryan); and Tommy. Rick cherished time spent with his grandchildren Kyah Nolan and Evander Greene.

A private ceremony for family will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery. A Celebration honoring Rick’s life will be held Sunday, March 8th from 1-4 PM at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center. Please join us then if you can, or keep your memories of Rick in your hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF), or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

What a great picture of Rick!! Though I only knew him for 8 years, he will always be remembered…for his kindness and consideration of all others; and, his precise prep for the Ragu sauce in Monticatini, and his outing to a cooking class in Paris! Your words captured Rick completely.

I was so sorry to hear about Rick’s passing. Though it’s been many years, I have many good memories of time spent with you, Nancy, Rick and the rest of the Quincy gang.
Sending condolences, prayers and hugs to the family.
