Currie Michael Morrison

Currie passed away on Wednesday April 16, 2003. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on February 6, 1945 to Fred and Mathea Morrison. When he was 3 months old, his family moved to Seattle, WA and settled on Queen Anne Hill. He graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1963 and joined the National Guard. He was married in 1966 to Gloria Lee Chapin. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1969 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. He spent his professional life as a music educator with the Seattle School District until 1992 when his interest in computers inspired him to pioneer technology in public schools. Nathan Hale High School, where he network-wired the first high school in the city, became a showcase for other districts. He was a professional trombone player from the age of 20, and played for Bob Hope, Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus, and Ben Vereen, among many others. Currie is survived by his wife Gloria, daughters Jennifer and Christina, sons Robert and Jerrold, granddaughters Joy, Aeriel, Serena and Elise, and sister Susan. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Leaf Lutheran Church, 10005 32nd Avenue NE, Seattle, WA 98125. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the American Diabetes Association.
