Obituary
Darrell Waples passed away February 19, 2005 at the age of 101 years. He was born February 7, 1904 at Castana, Iowa. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service first in Sioux City, Iowa and later in Rutland, South Dakota. Upon retirement he moved to Washington State where he and his wife Masel, became the first caretakers of the Pleasant Valley Christian Camp near Mineral, WA. Upon retirement from the camp job they moved to Maple Valley to live on their daughter Marcia’s farm. Darrell was preceded in death by his wife, Masel, and by a son, Keith. He is survived by a son, James of Aurora, South Dakota and daughters Norma Dyrdahl of Des Moines, WA and Marcia Gamradt of Maple Valley, WA and a daughter-in-law Audrey Waples of Nixa, Missouri and 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at Normandy Christian Church, 908 South 200th St., Des Moines, WA Thursday, February 24th at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pleasant Valley Christian Camp, P.O. Box 175, Mineral, WA 98355. Attn: The Waples Memorial Scholarship Fund.
