Obituary
Elsie Mary McCart, age 81 passed peacefully at her home on November 17, 2005. Elsie is survived by her daughter, Judith A. Griffin Bill; her granddaughter, Barbara Bereiter Thomas; two great grandchildren, Shannon and Jack Bereiter; brother, Conrad Schmidt and numerous nieces and nephews. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Lemoyne McCart in 1989. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, 11/22 from 12:00 Noon through 8:00 PM at BONNEY-WATSON Washington Memorial, 16445 International Blvd., SeaTac, WA 206 242-1787. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, 11/23 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 4415 S 140th Street, Tukwila, WA. Interment Washington Memorial Park.
One of my fondest memories of Jackie comes from the time I invited her to a costume party. It hadn’t been but a few weeks prior that she’d lost her husband, Buck, but she surprised everyone by showing up in a red clown costume and joined in the fun making new friends. That day I learned Jackie was an interesting combination of precious and gutsy.
She became one of my dearest friends and I affectionately called her my “second Mom” as she was always there defending and encouraging me with the fierceness of a bantam hen – whether I needed it or not!
I’m very sad Jackie has left us and I cannot express how much I’ll miss her. I send my deepest sympathies to Judy, Bill, Barbie, Tom, Shannon and Jack; she was very proud of all of you; and thank you for graciously sharing her with me.
