Herbert Earl Otis
Passed away in Renton on May 6, 2003 at the age of 86. He was born Dec. 14, 1916 in Devils Lake, ND the son of Herbert & Stella Otis. He was raised and attended school in Devils Lake where he graduated from High School in 1934. He was a resident of Spokane from 1946 to 1982 and lived in Kent from 1982 until his death. He was employed with White/Westinghouse for many years as a service technician, retiring in 1981. He was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy, to whom he was married from 1939 to 1963 at which time they divorced. Dorothy passed away in 2002. In july, 1966 he married Gladys Dods. She passed away in 1994. He is survived by one daughter, Janice E. Schatz; 4 sons, James E. Otis Marian; Clifford W. Otis Diane; Terry G. Otis MaryAnn and Gary D. Otis. Step-sons, Jerry Dods Fran and Kenneth Dods Jeanne; Brother, Dr. Vernon Otis. he was preceded in death by daughter, Judith E. West in 1994. Also 15 Grandchildren; 4 Step-Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; 7 Step-Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren as well as his devoted aompanion, Zella Black. His interests included travel, reading, camping, hockey, baseball, railroading and he loved to dance. Services will be Friday, may 9, 2003 at 1:00PM at the Kent Covenant Church 12010 SE 240th St., Kent, WA., with a reception to follow. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Renton, WA.
