On August 15th, 2025, Marie Elizabeth Moore (née Gochnour) a loving wife, daughter, sister, stepmother, grandmother, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, and niece passed away at the age of 44.
Marie was born in Kirkland, Washington to George and Mary Anne Gochnour, their first born. Later, she would later become the coolest big sister to three brothers.
In 2003, she started as with the Seattle Police Department, first as a dispatcher, then in 2005 as a police officer. She served at the Southwest Precinct in patrol, Anti-Crime Team, and detectives. She served in the Community Response Group in 2020, and in 2021, she finally got her dream job in the Crime Scene Investigation squad. She excelled everywhere she went. Always a quiet professional at work with unbelievable attention to detail.
During her FTO program in 2005, Marie met her future husband, Sean. Co-workers became best friends, and best friends became soulmates; they married in 2016. This made Marie a stepmother and grandmother. Being married to each other was better than either could have imagined.
Marie was incredibly intelligent, fiercely independent, and had a passion for music, video games, movies, and bizarre humor. Sean shared her passions and they made pilgrimages to music events all over the globe.
Her music tastes included metal, grunge, punk, the “riot grrrl” movement, alternative, and rave. She loved horror movies and was always on the hunt for rare and exclusive items.
She is survived by her husband Sean, parents George and Mary Anne, Brothers Thomas (Julia), Erik (Anna), and Joseph (Kelsey), two nephews(Harold and Edward Gochnour), four nieces (Bailey, Charlotte, Isabella, and Merrill Gochnour), and two stepdaughters (Kaitlyn Wilson and Megan Moore), two grandchildren (Thomas and Rachel Wilson), mother-in-law (Lynda Moore), brother-in-law (Thomas Moore) and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from a large and loving extended family.
Marie’s spirit will live on in “Riot Grrrls” everywhere.
