Obituary
Robert Wilfred Montplaisir passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023 as did his wife of 71 years, Lucille Gisele (Allard) Montplaisir. Robert was 97 years old. He is survived by his children Michael (Cathy) of Bonney Lake, Diane (David – RIP) Witsil of Wenatchee, John (Kara) of Des Moines, and Colette Babel of Seattle. Also survived by grandchildren Joslin, Jacqueline, Stephanie, Megan, Sean, JJ, Scott and Derek and great-grandchildren Brooks, Henry, Jane, Chelsea, Hudson, Charlotte, and Owen.
Robert was born January 20, 1926 in Carrington, North Dakota. He served in the Navy from 1944 – 1946. Robert received his BA in Electrical Engineering from North Dakota State University (GO BISON).
Robert married Lucille on September 27, 1952 in St. Eustache, Manitoba. He went to work for Boeing and retired in 1990 from Northrop Grumman.
After retirement, he and Lucille became snowbirds in Mesa, Arizona enjoying the warm weather. He loved to golf with brothers George, Don and Roy. He lived most of his life in Des Moines, but spent 10 years back in Fargo enjoying the family there.
Robert was a lifetime member of St. Philomena Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the “Grumpies”, a group of retired gentlemen who help around the parish and school.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Funeral services will be held at St. Philomena Catholic Church on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 10:30am.
