Bill Willard Moor

Willard Leroy Moor

September 16, 1921 – January 11, 2005. Beloved husband and father passed into the arms of his Lord at 10:00 PM on Tuesday, January 11, 2005. He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years Ernestine; children, Lou Ann Moor, Dave Virginia Moor, Bill Cathy Moor of Seattle, Dan Suzanne Moor of Bend, Oregon, Mary Bob Torseth of Sylmar, California; his grandchildren Carrie Paul Gustafson, Christiana, Stephen, Kyle, Jonathon, Michael, Emily, Benjamin, Laura and Kimberly Moor, Shawna Mark Steenback and Robb Torseth and great-grandsons Drew and David Gustafson. Willard, known to most people as Bill, flew 35 combat missions as the captain of a B-17 airplane during WWII. Flying was one of his passions and as a retired Boeing engineer he built his own plane, a T-18, which he flew until September, 2004. Bill was a Mechanical Engineer, and worked for The Boeing Company in Seattle for 36 years on the Boeing gas turbine, and later on the Boeing airplanes, 747, 767 and the 757. For recreation, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, photography, boating and an occasional game of golf. Our wonderful husband and father will be held close in our hearts and remembered for his encouraging support of each family member, his desire that each of us live our lives to honor God, and the legacy of close family relationships. He was dedicated to family, had a strong work ethic, high morals, and was respected by everyone who knew him for his fairness, honesty and integrity. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 17, 2005 from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM at Bonney-Watson Parker Chapel, 900 SW 146th Street, Burien. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Grace Baptist Church, 10323 – 28th Avenue SW, Seattle. Private interment at Tahoma National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon’s International or United Indian Mission International, P.O. Box 6429, Glendale, AZ 85312-6429.

Dear Moor Family,

We were saddened to hear of the passing of your beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Bill was very special to us throughout the years. We could always count on his genial “hello” each time we saw him at church. Not content to just utter the greeting in passing, he would always take time to inquire about our family. Bill radiated the love of his Savior and Lord to all who came in contact with him. We will all miss him tremendously, but we grieve not as those without hope. What joy awaits us at the reunion of all those encompassing Christ’s Bride. Until then, we will always remember Bill with fondness and will remember you all in our thoughts and prayers. Our love to you.
