Obituary

SFC Mario M. Alegria proudly and faithfully served his country for 32 years as a member of the US ARMY and Washington Army National Guard. He served through Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Mario was born in Villasis, Pangasinan, Philippines and immigrated to the United States in 1977. He died unexpectedly on April 13, 2011 while stationed in Ft. Carson, Colorado Springs, CO. He leaves behind his wife of almost 22 years, Marissa and his only daughter, Andrea Andy.

There are no words to describe how much he will be missed by his family and countless friends all over the world. He touched many people with his unselfish nature, his compassion, and quick smile. Mario was looking forward to his retirement scheduled for this summer to spend more time at home with his family that he loved and took good care of. Our lives are forever changed with the loss of Mario as a husband, a father, brother, son, uncle, nephew and best friend. Once you meet him, he will be your friend for life.

I am deeply shocked and saddened for the loss of our beloved Uncle Mario. His passing is so unbelievable to me...I can still hear his voice.

Uncle Mario was the sweetest, most generous and kind person. He greeted everyone with that warm smile of his. He cared so much for Auntie Marissa, Andy and the rest of his family. He is sorely missed.

Rest In Peace Uncle...

Since I am unable to attend, let me share my memory of this beautiful person. Mario was always not sometimes available and willing to help anybody. He was always quick with a smile, an active listener, and easy to work with. Even easier was being his friend. I count myself lucky to have been a friend of his. I am sorry for the loss, but know he is sitting in heaven.

I would like to extend my condolences to his family. I met Mang Mario right before the last deployment, not realizing he was the uncle that my friends kept talking about while I was working at the airport. He is one of the nicest guy that I have ever met. He kept in contact with me even after he left for Ft Carson. He even called me during the holidays just wish me a Happy Holidays. That is just the type of person he is and he will surely be missed:*
