Joyce LAMON

Born December 17, 1931 in Carbonado, WA to Paul and Velma Borell and grew up in Buckley, WA, graduating from White River High School in 1949.  She met Harold (Hal) Lamon in 1952, and they were married June 25, 1955.  They had three children, Debbie, Allan and Diane.

Joyce worked at various Government jobs and retired from the U.S. Customs Service as an Inspector in 1999.  When the children were growing up, Joyce was involved in the PTSA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Campfire Girls and all other activities that they were in.  She liked to go hiking and camping in their travel trailer.  Her hobbies were reading, sewing, stitchery, cross word puzzles, cooking and going to the casino.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  In 1998, she and Hal joined a cribbage club and began playing in tournaments, which is what she was doing when she suffered a massive stroke that took her life.  Joyce passed away March 2, 2014.

Joyce is survived by her husband Hal, daughters Debbie McCarty (Ron Andrus), Diane Dorsey (Dan) and son Allan Lamon (Petra), granddaughter Emily Dorsey, grandsons Kurt Lamon and Sam Dorsey, her brother Jack Borell (Pat) and her beloved Samoyed dog Nikita.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Community Presbyterian Church, 152 S. Cottage St., Buckley, WA 98321.  Donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to the Community Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.

My deepest sympathy goes out to you for the loss of your loved one, Mrs. Lamon. Death of a loved one is the most hurting experience any human can go through. However, our loving Creator did not leave us in that dying state. He provided a ransom many centuries later after Adam disobeyed. That ransom is Jesus who died to correct that problem. John 3:16 states, that he offered his life as a “ransom” for mankind. This ransom is the price paid for what Adam did to us. Mrs. Lamon will also benefit from this ransom provision. So there is hope that one day, you will be able to welcome Mrs. Lamon back to the earth in good health. Revelation 21:4 brings out that “death will be no more”. So, if we never die, we can live forever on earth restored to paradise conditions. For more information, please visit jw.org.

Dear Hal and Lamon Family:

All the Whidbey Island cribbage players who met and knew Joyce had a chance to read her obituary and reflect on what a sweet person she was.

Our deepest condolences on your painful loss of such a wonderful life partner and person.
