Mary Louise WIESER
1924 – 2014
Mary Lou peacefully passed away April 13, 2014 at Lina’s Adult Family Home in Normandy Park, WA. She resided at Lina’s for her last 27 months and was well cared for by Crispin, Lina and their wonderful staff.
Born 10/19/1924 in Bellevue, NE to Louis J. & Margareta Rush Krentz (deceased). Graduated from Cheyenne (WY) Senior High. Attended Stephens College (Columbia MO). In WWII, served 15 months in US Marine Corps Women’s Reserve at Marine Hdqtrs in Arlington, VA. Married George C. Wieser on 9/7/46 in Cheyenne WY. They lived in Denver CO 7 years before moving to Seattle in 1954, where they lived on the same block for 59 yrs and raised their 14 children. Mary Lou served as a volunteer in many organizations. At St. Francis of Assisi parish in Seahurst WA, she was involved in Parents Club, St. Rita Circle, Sodality, CYO and Archdiocese Council of Catholic Women. She taught piano from 1958-1974. She served with many hats in Girl Scouts organization for 15 years; was a member of the So. Seattle Mothers of Twins Club (serving locally & nationally for 30 years); was a Stephens College Alumnae; volunteered at FISH, Election Board and Crisis Clinic; was president of Highline Mental Health Guild 4 years; and is a member of the Women’s War Memorial in WA DC. She wrote 3 columns for The Highline Times from 1964-69, then published her own personal newsletter “Wandering & Wondering” from 1968-75. She worked as Branch Secretary 12 years for Coldwell Banker Realty, retiring in 1988. She is the mother of 4 sons and 10 daughters. She loved books and had an extensive library, plus a huge variety of CD music. She enjoyed reading, writing, listening to music, traveling, dancing, playing Upwards & bridge, collecting (everything), and watching the Mariners plus all her kids & grandkids playing sports.
She is survived by 14 children: Richard (Joanne), Elma; Reta Shepard (Art), Arlington; Robbi Alberts (Roger), Shelton; Ruth (Jan), Des Moines; Roger (Carla), Renton; Rosemary Thompson, Henderson NV; Raymond (Joleen), Auburn; Roy (Jodeen), Des Moines; Regina, Tacoma; Renee Parsons (Greg), Kent; Ramona Anderson (Jon), Burien; Rachel Haggerton (Carey), Kent; Rebecca Boyd, Burien; Rhonda Stewart (Darren), Kent … plus 21 grandchildren & 16 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by husband George and sister June Schuck (Kent).
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, April 28th at St. Francis of Assisi Church (15236-21st SW, Burien). Internment will follow at Tahoma National Cemetery (Kent) at 2:00 PM. Remembrances: St. Francis Parish; Mental Health agencies; George C. Wieser memorial scholarship (St. Francis).
Love you Grandma. I have so many wonderful memories. Loved to listen to you and your opinion on things while you cut out news clippings, drinking coke and sat in your chair. I still have the quilt you made me when I was six and so enjoyed reading your letters. To this day so thankful for my High School graduation gift of the airline tickets to the East Coast to be a nanny for Rose, you taught me there are wonderful things in the world….just look. I’m glad you no longer hurt and that are with Grandpa, Gerry and My brother again . Will miss you.
Grandma, I love you and miss you much. I remember coming and staying with you and grandpa and looking at all your many books on the shelves. I loved discussing all the new books each of us had read. You would always let me take a few books with me home and read them. I remember playing in the playhouse and picking raspberries from the bushes. I remember one year at one of the reunions getting stung by a bee and you helped me bandage it up and told me I would be fine. Thanks for all the great letters and pictures you would send me I still have them all and cherish them to this day. Take care of dad and grandpa and george and give dad a huge hug for me. Love ya.

Dear family of Mary Lou,
I worked wtih Mary Lou during her last 8 years with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate. Mary Lou was there for me! She was always supportive and willing to help! She kept the office in good order. She always spoke highly about her family and family was very important to her… She will be missed… we will take the great memories of her into our future… God bless you all during this time of sorrow, reflection and then focusing on fond memories.
I will never forget your mother laugh and all of the job she shared with my mother Ruth Angelini and also when Ruth Wieser And your brother Rick would come over and look after my brother Peter and I even when we did not think we needed looking after when your mom and my mom went to St Rita’s circle meetings and also how much the mariners was a part of her life.

Boy was your mother quite the woman.
She was in the Marine Corps just like me. That was really something at the time.
Then she went on to have fourteen kids. I am envious.
Your mother had a long and full life and I am happy for her and happy that she was your mother.

I first met Mary Lou, and George and their large family, through my friend Ruth Wieser, when I moved to Seattle over 35 years ago. From the start, Mary Lou was welcoming, warm and friendly including me and the many friends of her children in family get-togethers – lots of potlucks, games and good fun.. She lived a long, happy and generous life Mary Lou left a wonderful legacy in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, many of whom I am pleased to count among my friends. She will be missed by many.

Dad and I have such wonderful memories with both your Mom and Dad – they were there with us through all the HACO Women’s Softball Games, pizza parties, family gatherings, etc. Your Mom and I enjoyed other times – lunch at Yo’s, the Seattle Yacht club, American Legion lunches honoring our Women Vets, and sitting around her patio just talking about life.
