We were former students of hers. She was our favorite teacher. She will be greatly missed.
A very special lady.
Always a whirlwind of energy, An upbeat lady who brightened the room just by being there. She will be missed & never forgotten.
She was one of my favorite teachers.
She cared for each and every one of her students — a wonderful person.
Mrs Rose was a force to be reckoned with, but a joyful one. She was one of those old-fashioned teachers who really cared about each of her students and would cater to their needs if that’s what they needed to learn. One of my classmates had a lot of physical energy (he’d probably be diagnosed with some disorder nowadays) and couldn’t sit still or concentrate–and this was in high school. Mrs Rose just told him to go run around the outside of the building twice while the rest of us kept studying. When he got back he was fine. She knew how to bring out the best in people.
I’m sure I can speak for a great many former Trojans, Mrs. Rose, you will be greatly missed!!
Mrs. Rose took me under her wing and got me my first job at her husband’s insurance company when I graduated in l972. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for her and had a rush of emotions when I saw her obituary in the Fife-Milton Press. She was a very special teacher and person.
She was a wonderful lady and will be missed.
I loved Mrs. Rose, as we called her. She was one of my favorite teachers! I looked forward to going to her class each day! She made history fun! I loved seeing her smile each day! May God Bless and comfort you and your family at this time..
Mrs. Rose was a favorite of mine!! Always full of energy and excitement… An amazing woman!!!
Mrs. Rose was one of my favorite teachers. She took the time with all her students when we needed it. Wouldnt let me give up when I wanted to. She was a great teacher. Prayers to her family & friends.
I recall and occasionally tell stories of being in her class and the fun I had. She was always smiling and enjoying her position as a teacher.
A very special lady that made a difference in many lives at Fife High School. A teacher I will always remember. Thank you Mrs. Rose. You taught many of us well!
Mrs. Rose was a great lady, full of life. May God bless her family at this time.
Thank you for all that you gave us! God bless your family.
Mrs. Rose was the most amazing teacher who loved what she was doing and loved her students. In the small community we all grew up together and she was just a part of the family. She was always smiling but was stern when she needed to be-which was not very often. She was enthusiastic and was always in your corner and had faith in everyone. She was funny and loved to go to the football games and carried that Fife Trojan spirit with her as being the advisor for the Trojanettes. She was an amazing teacher, woman and mentor. She will be missed by all of the students and peers she came into contact with.
A person never forgets a teacher that made a difference in their life. Mrs. Rose was that kind of teacher. You couldn’t help but love her especially with that contagious smile of hers! I’m so grateful for the way in which she touched my life…I will never forget her. I will be praying for peace and comfort for her family.
Absolutely a favorite teacher! There is only ONE Mrs. Rose. Friendly, spunky and smart! Myself and all who had her as a teacher – should appreciate the fact we had her in our life for a moment in time. She was a treasure and her memory remains so.
Mrs. Rose was a fantastic teacher loved going to her class I will miss her greatly
How this amazing lady put up with us in class and was still able to teach us so much is hard to believe!
I remember a field trip we took to Uwajimaya’s (sp?) in Seattle for an Asian studies class. An inebriated guy in the restaurant we had lunch at called her “toots, so we had a T-shirt made up with Toots across the back and she put in on for 1st period for the rest of the trimester…..what a great lady indeed!
Mrs. Rose had a great passion for her work, she was involved with each student. I always looked forward to seeing her each day. She may be gone but will be forever remembered.
Mrs. Rose mahalo for seeing things in me that I didn’t see in myself. Mahalo, you will be greatly missed
What a caring, kind individual she was. I was so priveleged to have taken three of her classes: U.S. History, Anthropology and Sociology. She was always so positive and cheerful.
I still have great memories of Mrs. Rose. Her passion for teaching is something I have never forgotten.
I will miss you Mrs. Rose. Thank you for all you have done.
Carol was such a compassionate person. She was faithful in supporting all athletic events rain or shine. Mrs. Rose had a genuine love and concern for all her students.
She was always kind hearted, smiling and loved teaching and supporting her students. She did have her hands full with some of us students. I know my sister Janice LOVED Mrs. Rose (even tho she probably gave her a few grey hairs). Thank you Mrs. Rose – A very favorite teacher among many of us Fife High Trojans. RIP.
I had Mrs. Rose for first period and could alway count on a smile from this wonderful lady. Rest In Peace.
What a wonderful, happy, and devoted teacher. Several of our children were fortunate enough have Mrs. Rose and I was lucky enough to work for her as an office aide. Her name always brought a smile to our faces.
Cousin Carol was a real bubbly person. We were always happy to pick her up for family events. She loved seeing family and friends. My mom & dad, Florence & Ralph Ericksen, hosted Carol & Glen on Stuart Island for their honeymoon. It was quite an experience for Glen as there was no running water, electricity, or indoor plumbing. Carol grew up on Stuart so this wasn’t a new experience for her. They had a happy honeymoon in spite of no modern conveniences.
Mrs Rose was such an influence on so many of us at FHS. I was in more than one of her classes over the years, mainly because she had so much love for her students and her career and we knew it! I’ll always remember the field trip we took to the ID in Seattle with her and trying Asian cuisine, which at the time was fairly unusual (1970s).
Rest in peace, Mrs Rose. You were a class act and we loved you.
Sorry to read of the passing of Carol. I am one of numerous relatives to Carol and Glen. Glen’s mother, Claudia, was my Dad’s sister. I remember many get togethers over the years with family, where Carol and Glen would make the trek from the West side of the state over to Dayton, Wa. And many of those times, Claudia would host the festivities at her and Joe’s (Glen’s father) home on the South Touchet. Those were times I will long remember. I still remember Glen telling me the story of the farm dog that prevented him from getting into the river in back of there home when he was a small toddler.
As families are sometimes prone to do, we have all spread apart over the years and lost contact; times like this tend to bring us back together, even for a brief time.
God speed, Carol.
I taught next to Carol at Fife High School in the early 80’s. She loved history and loved her students even more. You could tell that because there was never a time when Carol wasn’t smiling!
Let your light so shine before others, that they may see your good works. May God continue to bless the family in this time of sorrow.
Carold and Glen lived at WEsley Homes in Des Moines for several years. I was a employee there. I got to know Carol and Glen . They were so nice . CArol always had a smile on her face and we would laugh together every time I seen her . She was a person that I am so glad to have meet in my life . She was one who loved to give hugs
I am Carol’s daughter. Thank you all so much for your kind words. The memorial went well yesterday. thank you again from our family.
She kept Wildman from kicking me out of school because someone lied about me the last week of the school year in 1972. She was a shinning light in a school of dark lighters…. God bless and thank you Mr’s Rose I still remember…….
I will always remember her.
My prayers and thoughts to the Rose family on their loss. Mrs. Rose was one of my favorite high school teachers. She loved teaching and she loved her students.
So sorry to hear of Mrs. Rose’s passing. I got to know her as a person and not just a teacher in 1970-72. Truly fond memories of her! I pray blessings on her family. They were blessed to have her all of her days.
