Cheryl Weldon Montgomery

November 27, 1951 - December 1, 2008

Obituary

Cheryl ‘Monty’ Weldon-Montgomery was born in Harlem, NY on November 27, 1951 to the union of Willie and Doris Weldon.

A graduate of Garfield High School and the University of Washington, Monty took the insurance industry by storm and was very successful.

She was blessed with an infectious personality that left a profound impression on all who crossed her path. Her free spirit and zest for life made her truly one of a kind and the world has lost some of its sparkle without her in it. She was a traveler and used the world as her playground.

Monty was blessed with two daughters, Rhonda and Nicolle from her union with Cedric Strong. She made it clear to all who knew her that she loved her children, her grandchildren, and her siblings; Willie, Keith and Deborah more than she loved life itself.

Although Monty was still so young, the transition to her new life was not expected, but, in her own way, she had prepared herself and others for her ongoing. Her wishes were, ‘that her life be celebrated, no tears, no joyless songs…..continue on with the party of life and remember her smile.’

Monty leaves to mourn her children; Rhonda Strong-Irby husband-Lonnie and Nicolle Strong, grandchildren; Syade, Khafre, and Kemet, brothers; Willie Weldon wife–Mancy and Keith Weldon wife-Gwen, sister, Deborah Weldon-Lang, lifelong friend of over 45 years Eunice Bias and a multitude of relatives and friends.

A service to celebrate Monty’s life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 2:00pm at Bonney-Watson Federal Way Funeral Home, 1535 SW Dash Point Rd, Federal Way, WA 98023, 253839-7317.

I just recently heard of Monty entrance into heaven. I will miss Monty, as I know so many will. I had the opportunity to work with Monty on the road and at home. While at Northstar Monty reminded us all how full of life she was when she organized a coat drive and took them all to the police department herself. Monty was so energized you felt as if you had a dozen cups of coffee in you when she was around. God certainly has His hands full and I know she will put a smile on His face as she walks thru the gate. May God Bless and keep her family safe for her.

I met Monty in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. on a work assignment and from day one loved her sincere work ethic, humor and overall beautiful personality. I still keep in touch with many of the people we worked with and to say she will be missed is a total understatement. Even without being around her for the past few years the memories of Monty and her great laugh will be remembered forever. It was my pleasure to have known her. To her family, you were the ultimate and her conversations about you were unlimited. Happy Holidays to you. She would want you to celebrate!

You were my best friend, I am so sorry that I can’t be @ your side right now. I know someday we shall meet again.

I Love you, but God loves you Best. I raise my eyes to heaven searching for any signs of you. Always embracing our memories, your zest for life, your courage, strength, and determination.

My heart is broken,I get relief knowing you are with our Lord.

I love you,always and forever

Siter and Friend.

For the Family,Sometimes it is hard to understand why things must be. But there is a reason for it all,Beyond our power to see, And may it comfort us a bit,to know The one we Love has found Eternal Happiness and lasting Peace above.

I am stunned and honored at the same time. Blessed to have known you Monty. I will surely miss your beautiful Christmas cards, that you diligently took great pride in sending out. Your smile, and the love that you have for family was full of compassion. You will be missed no doubt. To the family comfort one another as God comforts you.

To the family of Cheryl Montgomery, I

called her Montgomery! Such a long name for such a small person in

highth, and a Tall person in Statue. I met Montgomery around 1986, I

was her Hairdresser. She thought I was the best, but that was my friend,

and you know that is how friends think of one another. We were more than

client patron we hung out togather. When Montgomery told you she was

going to do something she did it.

If fare would allow I would sit across the porch from God and thank him

for LENDING us you. Cheryl Monty Montgomery I sure liked grooving with

you ! Until we meet again Love Gweni Hill

To the loves of Monty’s, her daughters, grandchildren, and her siblings my prayers are with you in the time of physical separation. Know that she talked about her family all the time. And now she is talking to the angels about all of you. Please hold on to the memories that were created while she was here. Those will help you in this time of grief.

Monty you will be missed greatly.

I just want to share my condolences with Monty’s family. She will be missed greatly. I have shared so many words and miles with Monty as we traveled from Eugene to Seattle almost bi-weekly. I got to know her family through many conversations and I just want you all to know you are in my prayers and thoughts. It just lets us know that life is precious. Monty, you were my road dog and you will be missed!

I remember when Mike and I first met you when you came for a visit and we partied at Keith and Gwens house. Your mom always talked about all of you but I had yet to meet you, and it was true, you were full of life. When Keith called, we thought he was inviting us to a family get together for the Holidays. We were sadden to hear that you were gone. Cheryl I know that you would want us all to celebrate your home coming and we will. You are in a glorious place now along with your mother whom I grew to love and miss very much. We will all be together again.

See Ya,

Mike and Wanda Nelson

To Nikki & Rhonda,

I’ve known your Mom a long time we go way way back. In all the years we’ve known each other we’ve never been MAD at each other always good times together. There was nothing to stop us from a good time “Road Dogs”. I introduced your Mom and Ty and never in my wildest dreams did I think they would click like they did. But they DID. It’s true, Monty loved you all and her grandkids more than life itself. Stay strong and prayerful.

Love Michelle

PS..Keith, stay strong they will all need you now

Dear Monty’s family

Sitting next to Monty for 2 years while she was in Eugene OR was a wonderful journey. Every day she made me laugh, until I had tears at times. She taught me to love everyone and everything close to me, be kind and to live YOUR life to the fullest. I have so many wonderful memories of Monty, her introducing me to “soul” food and Ludacruis. Being my “coach” at Curves and reteaching me how to hoola hoop, what hips that girl had. She gave me her WSU stuffed cougar when she left Eugene, I gave her a Duck for UofO to watch over each of us, while we were apart. My heart aches for our loss, but then all the memories she gave us and her great smile…I remember that and I know things will be okay….eventually Hugs to Monty and her wonderful family

Love your friend forever,

Lori your dawg

Hey Ron, I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. You know If you and Lonnie need anything from me and Mom just let us know. We love you guys. Sometime we have to go through some really difficult times and we may not understand why but there is a bigger plan…. I guess, and God would not put you through more that you can handle, at least that’s what they say, but I suck at this stuff. I can’t tell you I know what you’re going through but I can tell you that I’m here for you. Love you.

Monty, girl, my special Sis-In-Law! Today I am writing this with a heavy heart. Every morning that I wake up I just cannot believe that I will not hear that laugh or see that smile or feel that sassiness that you exuded. I last saw you on Saturday nite at the baby shower for our new grandaughter where we were having a good time drinking Toni’s Cadillac Magaritas, playing those crazy baby shower games and planning our Christmas dinner. Never in a million years did I think that would be my last time seeing you. I am so glad that we always ended our conversation with an “I love you, girl”. I will always keep you in my heart and I know I will someday see you again so you can “holla at a sister”!

I only knew Monty for a brief time, but she was a very bright light in this world of ours. She was an exciting person with an unforgettable smile and zest for life. I must say her obituary was one of the best I’ve read and it depicted the person I met for only a brief moment in time.

My prayers for peace and blessing are with you all.
