Obituary

Dwight Dee DAVIS Sr.

Dwight Davis Sr. passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2009. He was 58 years old. He was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota on April 23rd, 1951. Shortly after that he and his family moved to Washington. He graduated from Tyee High School in Sea Tac, WA in 1971. Dwight started working as a teenager at various odd jobs and ultimately became a Crane Operator at Boeing Co. He retired from Boeing after 31 years earlier this year. He enjoyed working at Boeing tremendously.

Dwight was always a jokester with everyone, no matter who you were. He ate popcorn like there was no tomorrow, and vanilla ice cream too. Some of his favorite snacks were fresh apples, oranges, and bananas. He would often go to the grocery store several times a day and come back empty handed, a habit his sons never understood. He never complained about how hard his job was, maybe he wasn’t working that hard, who knows. He developed friendships everywhere he went, work, the grocery store, and through his family and friends. He was a great father and husband. He provided everything for his family. He was always there for all of us, his sons, wife, brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Maria, son Jonathan Pamela granddaughter Serena, son Dwight Jr. sisters Joann Taylor Glen Margo Mineard Monte Sr, Debbie Davis, Michelle Davis and brother Mathew Davis. Nieces and Nephews, John Davis III, Andrea, Glen Jr, Monica, Jessica, Monte Jr, Mandy, Marcie, Priscilla, Clayton, Mikayla, Crystal and Carissa, and many great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his Father, John Davis Sr. and Mother Laverne, brother John Davis Jr. & nephew Marc Mineard.

Dwight touched many lives with his sense of humor, his love of life and family, he will be truly missed. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday July 25, 2009 at 10:30 in the morning at St Bernadette Catholic Church, 861 SW 128th St. Burien, WA. Burial will be at Washington Memorial Cemetery, 16445 International Blvd. SeaTac, WA 98188 following the service.

I am so sorry to hear of Dwight’s passing. He made a such difference in this world. Because of his sense of humor and good will, I would search him out at work when I needed my spirit lifted. I will miss him and I know many others will too.

I am keeping his family in my thoughts and prayers.

I always enjoyed communicating with Dwight at work. He was such a jokester fun. Joe Riley and I took a sign language class at work to communicate with him better. Dwight liked that, but he communicated very well with people who didn’t know any sign language. God was kind to us to let us work with a man like Dwight. He was a hard worker and a kind and loving person. We all influence each other and he influenced me in good ways.

I will miss Dwight something awful. He was always up for a family get together, and you could always count on him to show up. My fondest memories was visiting Aunt LaVernes house and Dwight was always there, drinking coffee and milk out of one of Aunt LaVerne’s Aluminum Glasses. I don’t know why I think of that but I do. So much so, I had to buy a set of colored aluminum glasses. That and Dwight always had immaculate vehicles. I bought Dwights Tent Trailer knowing that there would be no problems with it. Wish I had kept it. Anyway, he will be missed and I know the afterlife will be more fun now!

Dewight worked for me and I found that there was not a kinder, gentler, inspiring man than dewight. I am blessed by God to have known him. I hope the Lord keeps his family close during this sorrowful time. And I hope that Dewight is hearing the chorus in heaven in his now perfect body.

I work in crane maintenance. I fix the equipment cranes that Dwight operated. In Auburn at the steal yard we were having problems with a crane that had been going on for years. It wasn’t until I first met Dwight and he approached me with what he thought the problem was that we finally figured it out and got it fixed. I guess know one else would listen. I asked him if he was interested in a maintenance job? He shook his head smiling and declined. Dwight is one of the sharpest crane operators I’ve had the pleasure to work with. I’ll miss you Dwight! Dwight will be greatly missed. He was a very good friend and an encouragment to us. What we will miss the most of Dwight is his constant smile and silent sort oflaugh. It was an honor to know Dwight, interpret for him, and most of all, fellowship with him and talk about Christ. We love and miss him.

I worked with Dwight at the Auburn Steel yard for approx. 15 years. He taught me sign language, the alphabet. I took that home and taught my kids and had a lot of fun with him over the years and I will miss him. Unable to attend the funeral due to work, but I will be thinking about him. Kelly Hermanson

I will, surely, miss him. We were coworkers, I didn’t get to know him, until about 4 years ago. But in that very short time, he touched my soul, like so very few in life are able. He always was uplifting and I rarely saw him without a smile upon his face. Dwight, you did make a difference and we love you for it. God bless you and keep you for ever.

Dwight cherished his wife and loved being a father to their two sons. I believe he was happiest on the day we celebrated his adoption of Jonathan on Father’s Day. It was the perfect day to celebrate.

My thoughts and condolences are with his family, including his siblings.
