Obituary

Elizabeth Agnetta Foruria

Elizabeth was born in Grafton, North Dakota Februrary 25th, 1924 and passed away peacefully with her family at her side on September 10th, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Raymond Foruria, as well as the eight other siblings from her own family.

Elizabeth told stories of her youth with her brothers and sisters, the struggles, the laughter, the adventure and the team work. Her mother separated when Liz was fairly young and managed to raise nine children working during the depression sewing military clothing.
At harvest time Liz would go to her Aunt’s farm to help with the chores of cooking and serving food to the field workers when they would come in for meals. One meal would finish then they began preparing the next, she would say, a never ending cycle. Apparently there was competition on the farms for who had the best menu and her Aunt was well known in the region as being ‘tops’.

When Liz was around 17 she moved to Seattle with her sister. She became ill with tuberculosis and spent a year in the sanitarium. Later she worked in St.Vincent Hospital during WWII. She also worked for a while downtown in a coffee shop, she use to love to go downtown. She and Ray married, had two children, moved about the country with Boeing and settled back in the Seattle area once again. They lived out the rest of their life there.

Elizabeth is survived by her two children, Dana and Mike, grandchildren Coleton, Angela and Lisa, great-grandchildren Jackie, LaShawna, Casey, Theresa, Stephen, and a brand new great-great gandbaby!

Per Elizabeth’s request, a private ceremony will be held this Friday, Sept. 19th, 2008 at Gethsemane Cemetery.
