Obituary

Frank Siccardi

On Saturday, December 17, 2011,  Frank died peacefully surrounded by his family.  He was born to Joe and Mary on April 17, 1926 in Riverton, Washington.  He graduated from Foster High School in 1944 and then joined the Army Air Corp as a tail gunner.  In 1946 he started his long and dedicated 42-year career at Kenworth Truck Company.  In 1950 he married, his “sweetie” of 61 years, Rena.

While raising his family, he found time to serve on the school board, cooked many a spaghetti dinner in support of the school and Sons of Italy and combined his design skills and passion for teaching by mentoring high school students in the Junior Achievement Program. He was always proud of his Italian heritage and especially enjoyed his visits to his relatives in Italy.  After retiring in 1988, he and Rena spent the winters in Arizona; he became an avid Mariner fan, spending each day of spring training at the ballpark.

Frank’s greatest joy in his life was his family; his four “girls” and his four grandsons.  Gentle, PATIENT, smart, loving … he was the best husband, daddy, and grandpa to a family he loved with all his heart.

He will be deeply missed by the love of his life, Rena; their beloved daughters, Nancy (Greg) Munro, Carole, and Maryanne (Monti) Ackerman; his cherished grandsons, Bryan (Laura) Munro, Neil Munro, Patrick Ackerman and Tony Ackerman; his sister Eileen (Milo) Balzarini; his brother-in-law Bob (Rosalyn) Prandi; and his nieces and nephews.  All who were blessed to have Frank in their lives will remember him fondly.

In celebration of a life filled with love and joy, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 4415 S. 140th, Tukwila, WA  98168.  Committal and military honors will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery of Kent.  The family prefers memorial contributions be made to Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Frank was my best friend from grade school thru Foster High School. We were active in the student body activities and especially in football. We played on the first Championship Football Team Foster ever had, going undefeated and unscored upon until the last half of the last game. He was football captain our senior year. We double dated as he had a car. We were drafted together, out serial numbers ending in 5164 and 5165. He was my best man when I married a classmate Barbara Davis in 1947. I will miss his cheery manner.

While I only had the opportunity to meet Frank a couple of times, he touched me with his friendly demeanor and some very kind and loving words during our first conversation, which I will cherish forever. I can only imagine how he touched others’ and the impact he made on their lives. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. With deepest sympathy, Shelby

Frank’s Italian “family” remembers him with love and will miss him very much.

Even if we were very far, we always felt very close to him and to his wonderful family.
