Obituary
Gary “Louie” Thompson was born in Seattle Washington 22 September 1946, and passed away at the age of 69 on 10 January 2016 due to heart complications in Burien Washington. Born of the late Tom Thompson and Barcie Wright. Graduated Garfield high school in 1964.
Gary spent most his life working for Ford selling cars and trucks. He started in the mid 70’s and was at various locations for 30 years. He treated his customers like friends and they became lifelong customers because of his humor and story-telling.
Gary learned how to play golf in his 40’s and tried to play at least once a week, it was his true passion. He played all over Washington state as often as he could no matter the weather.
He was also a huge fan of local sporting teams including the Mariners and the Seahawks. He played baseball throughout his school years and played competitive softball later in life. In high school he was an avid musician playing in the drum and bugle core playing the trumpet, trombone, and baritone. He also played trumpet in a jazz ensemble.
He is survived by his two sons Robert Dubuque and Brian Thompson. He is also survived by his sisters Dee-Dee and Sue. He is preceded in death by his brother Steve and followed in death by his sister Betty.
Gary, I’ll miss you. I wish I got to know you better.
You always had a smile, and I heard your heart was big. We were just starting to get to know you, I’m sad it didn’t happen sooner, but glad for the time we had. Thank you for your son, Bob, you brought a good man into this world. RIP Gary.
Gary you were a great friend and co-worker and I am so sorry we lost touch. There are so many funny stories I could tell about your time at Sea Tac Ford Truck Sales, it made working fun! It was like a giant family. I know a lot of your customers were more like friends and will really miss you. I know you really loved your family, especially your Sons! God Bless.
Uncle Gary was a great guy. My mom,Betty, was his sister. They were close, and talked a couple times a month. He was always a great storyteller! He would have us all laughing until we had tears, and always had a hilarious joke. My brothers and sister and I fondly remember being taken to our first drive in movie by Uncle Gary and his first wife Bonney. We saw Herbie the Lovebug. He bought us candy and pop and we had a wonderful time. We lost my Mom 32 days after Gary… We find comfort that they are together in heaven, and sharing laughter and loving and watching all of us from above. We love you Uncle Gary! We will keep your sons in our family circle.
You will be missed Uncle Gary!! I will miss our phone conversations that always ended with an exchange of the latest joke that we had heard. I couldn’t wait to share the joke with my co workers the next day. We got to golf a few times together and we had a great time because he didn’t take the game so serious. He always had conversations with his golf clubs after a bad shot. We know it wasn’t his swing. Thanks for keeping things light. Laughter is a wonderful thing.
You are still in my thoughts Gary
