Obituary
Jeanette “Jeanie” Thiele
Jeanette “Jeanie” Thiele beloved wife, mother, grandma and friend passed away peacefully on May 13, 2013 after a courageous 2½ year battle with cancer.
Born February 3, 1934 in Appleton, Wisconsin, Jeanie was one of four children born to Lawrence and Gladys Kaufman. Jeanie graduated from Appleton High School in 1952 and shortly thereafter went to work as a stewardess for United Airlines. It was while working for United that she met her future husband Richard who was working for Northwest Airlines at the time. Jeanie and Dick were married in 1960 and settled in Burien, Washington. Jeanie was a stay at home mom until her children were in school at which time she went to work for the Highline School District. She retired in 1996.
Jeanie is survived by her husband Dick, son Greg, daughter Jill (Jeff Liddiard), grandchildren Jarrett, and Jordan Liddiard, and sisters Mildred Mader and Kathryn Sanford, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents and brother Bernard Kaufman.
The family wishes to express its appreciation and gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at Pacific Northwest Home Care. Florina and Mariana thanks for making Jeanie feel at home these last few months.
Memorial Service 1:00 PM, Friday, June 7, 2013 at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial, 16445 International Blvd, SeaTac, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital www.stjude.org.
Didn’t know Jeanie well, but the few times we met thought she was a very nice person. We remember seeing Jeanie following Dick & his dog down the street with a small shovel & bucket to ‘scoop up’ behind! We smiled, as we have dogs we take out walking…but we share the ‘scooping’ and wondered how Dick got her to do it by herself!! Dick, your friends at BZ’s send you their thoughts & love.
Dick and I became friends in grade school. In the late 1950’s and early 1960’s our families began to grow and even though we lived and worked 300 miles apart our friendship grew and continues to this day. Jeanie had a great personality, an inquiring mind, and was a fun loving woman, whom we will miss very much. May her family now experience peace of mind knowing she no longer is suffering. Love Bob and Lois
JEANIE,i i WILL MISS YOU, WE WERE NEIGHBORS FOR A FEW YEARS AND HAD SOME GREAT MEMORIAL DAY PARTIES AND REMAINED FRIENDS SINCE 1966. HANG IN THERE DICK, GREG & JILL. lOVE TO ALL HELEN
When Jean arrived the party started. She was the party. I worked at Chinook with Jean and she really one of the most charismatic people I have known. People would be lined up at her desk to talk. Jean listened to people. She knew all about the students and faculty at Chinook because they told her everything. She really cared about everyone. She was funny and she was kind. She also loved her family and we heard lots of stories about Greg and Jill. Jean was dearly loved by the entire Chinook community.
Aunt Jeanie was a wonderful and caring person and I will miss her greatly. Fond memories include gum for nieces and nephews when she came home for visits during her stewardess days, and Grandpa’s lottery to see who got to sit next to her on the drive home from the airport. Our love to Uncle Dick, Greg & Jill
Auntie Jeanie was my favorite aunt from the day she married into the family. Dick you showed extraordinary good taste and judgement when you married that woman. She was wonderful and the world is colder without her warmth. Amy and I will be there Friday. If we can help in anyway please let us know. Love you all.
Lori
My deepest condolences to an old friend from an old airline buddy. May God’s peace shine His light in your heart and warm you with many wonderful memories.
Jeanie, you will be missed but not forgotten. I always loved our talks and our special gum. You were a great friend to all. Our thoughts and prayers to Dick, Greg and Jill.
Have wonderful memories of Aunt Jeannie and her wonderful sense of humor that could always make me laugh.
She will always have a special place in my heart.
Condolences to Uncle Dick, Greg, Jill (and family)–we will all miss her
I’m Jeannie’s “big sis”, and I will always love her and her great sense of humor. She and Dick, my late brother and sister-in-law, my late husband and I have so very many good memories.. She was a wonderful and caring aunt, sister, wife and mother. She and Dick were a devoted couple, who belonged together from the start.
My heart goes out to Dick, Gregg and Jill–and to those two grandkids she was so thrilled to have. She could always make us laugh. Memories last forever. Love ya, Millie
Dearest Sis; My heart is filled with sadness at my loss, but the memories erase the tears when i think of the fun we shared together. You had a life filled with happiness and love with the family that adored you . You will be missed but not forgotten for this is just a brief intermission until we meet again. My condolences to the family from sister Toddy.
I worked beside Jean at Chinook in the office, after transferring over from Puget Sound, from 1980 until I retired in 1984. Worked?–sure–when we had to get things done. But never before with anyone like Jean. She was so much fun to be with, sit beside, and enjoy while we carried out our daily tasks. Jean laughed and talked a lot, but we did get done what we needed to, didn’t we,
Jean.? After Jean retired, too, we had some great telephone conversations. Bet you have everyone laughing still, my friend!
