Joseph Alexander MICHAELSON
Joseph ‘Joe’ Alexander Michaelson, 85, of Seattle, Wash., passed away on Columbus Day, October 12, 2009 surrounded by his family. During a seven year struggle with the affects of severe stroke, he resided at Wesley Health Care Center.
He was born in Fall City, Washington on November 6, 1923, raised in the Territory of Alaska and settled in Seattle. He served in the Army Air Corp in Germany after WWII. He returned to Seattle and married Dorothy Guttebo, his high school sweetheart. They had four children and established a loving family in South Seattle. He successfully owned and operated several businesses involving carpentry, contracting, and the commercial fishing industry. He enjoyed family, especially his grandchildren, winemaking, hunting, and joking with the nurses and aides at Wesley.
Joe is survived by his two brothers, John ‘Harold’ Michaelson and David Michaelson; his children, Sandra Morris, Mary Jo Rice, Joseph ‘Mike’ Michaelson Jr., and Winn Michaelson; and his grandchildren, Jerald Rice, Jeffrey Rice, John Morris, Brian Rice, Matthew Morris, Kathryn Rice, Paul Morris, Kristie Rice, Scott Rice, Ben Morris, Maria Rice and Aaron Morris; and three great grandchildren, Tyler Morris and two on the way. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy and his grandson Brent Rice.
Viewing Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM and Sunday, Oct.18, 2009 from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM all at Parker Funeral Home in Burien. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 19, 2009 in Des Moines at St. Philomena Church.
A reception will follow in the church hall. A graveside service will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery in Federal Way, Washington following the reception in the church hall.

I am so sorry to hear about Joe. We were good friends for alot of years. I wish I knew he was ill and I would of come to visit him. He was someone I loved very much. But our life went in different directions. He will always have a special stop in my heart.
