Obituary

Joseph Henry Delgardo was born February 18, 1929, in Los Angeles, California, to the union of John Luciano Delgardo and Laura Cynthia Gregory. He was the second oldest sibling of six children. “Joe”, as he was affectionately called, his four brothers and one sister possessed an indescribable love for their dear mother – he honored and cherished her unconditional love for her family until the day of her passing.

 Joseph, attended 49th Street Elementary School, Carver Junior High and Polytech High School in Los Angeles, CA, where he played football and ran track. He enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed on the USS Mount McKinley in San Diego, California where he served his country in the Korean War. He attended Pasadena City College where he was honored as a Junior All American in football and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physical Education at the College of Pacific in Stockton, California. In 1967, Joe took a leap of faith and relocated to Seattle, WA to pursue employment with the Boeing Company.

Joseph worked for Leo Rule’s Oldsmobile (Los Angeles, Ca.), the Boeing Company and Champion Paper Company where he eventually retired in 2001. He also worked for Leschi Boat Moorage for over 35 and was still working there until falling ill this past September. He possessed such an outstanding work ethic that he was offered an open invitation to return to Leschi Moorage whenever he so desired for as long as he so desired.

 Joseph was an avid bowler and demonstrated an unyielding love of boats and being on the water. He relished every opportunity to exchange fond childhood memories with his brothers each time they came together, as well as enjoyed great times with other family members and friends.

 Joseph Henry Delgardo, leaves to cherish his memories, daughters: Susan Delgardo, Victoria Delgardo-Jennings (Marcus), Rae Delgardo, Pamela Delgardo-McBride, Cassandra Delgardo-Precedingnd Anjanette Delgardo, sons – Daryl Delgardo, Gregory Delgardo and Roderick Delgardo, brothers: William Delgardo, Robert Delgardo Sr. and Bernard Delgardo, sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. Preceeding him in death are his sister, Carolyn Jones, brother Johnny Delgardo and daughter JoAnna Delgardo.

Joe, you will be greatly missed. You lit up the faces of everyone here at Skyway Park Bowl. You had many friends and acquaintances here and will be remembered always.
