Obituary

Katina Shavonne Stowers Richardson was born on June 24, 1972 at 9:37
p.m. in Seattle, Washington with big eyes and dimples. To the union of
Lloyd and Barbara Stevenson. Barbara later married Bernard Stowers,
who raised Tina
as his own when she was at a young age.

Tina was a lively, bubbly little girl who enjoyed music, dancing and posing.
She accepted the Lord as her savior at an early age. She was educated
in the public schools of Seattle and Renton Washington graduated from
Renton High school in 1990. While in High School she played the flute
as part of the Marching Band. During her high school years she went
to school with several cousins and met some of her lifelong friends.
Tina was a beautiful, responsible soul who never placed burdens on her
parents.

When Tina got her drivers license she had access to her parents cars,
as a result of that Tina was everyone’s chauffer. You could see her
driving her blue VW Beetle to a 280ZX, or maybe it was the Blue Mazda
truck or the Red Mercedes Benz. Whether you were a friend or a cousin
of Tina’s, you always rode in style! Tina was very family oriented
and was wise at an early age. She drew people to her and mentored
them without realizing the special gift she had.
She came to this earth and had her own goals but God had a purpose for
her life. Tina’s dream was to be in law enforcement but due to back
problems she went into the medical field.

After Tina rededicated her life to the Lord, her mission was bringing
people to the Lord. Her calling was helping and supporting people in
need.

Tina was later diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis MS but she never
let it stop her from achieving the things she desired in life. MS is a
harsh life altering disease. It deteriorates the body more than you
can imagine. Tina managed the disease without letting it control her.
She handled it with grace and beauty.

In 1997 Tina met the love of her life, William Rich Richardson, Jr.,
in church; they dated for five months having a Christ-centered
courtship. After asking her dad, Bernard Stowers, for her hand in
marriage, Tina and Rich became one on February 14, 1998.

Despite doctors advising Tina not to have children, to this union they
were blessed with two daughters, Faith and Grace, Rich had two
daughters from
a previous marriage that Tina accepted as her own, Brandy and Jasmine.

While serving as a military spouse, Tina was very instrumental in
assisting Rich with helping his soldiers to overcome personal
obstacles through mentoring and counseling. While on military
assignment, Tina and Rich moved to Germany, during this assignment
Tina spent most of the time eating, shopping and getting her hair
done. After his assignment was completed they moved back to
Washington.

While her husband served in Iraq, Tina continued to demonstrate her
strength, raising their daughters and maintaining the household on her
own until his return.
Tina’s continuous battle with MS caused her to need full time
assistance. Tina received help from her family and friends and
because of the love her father, Bernard Stowers, had for Tina, his
intention was to retire this year and help care for Tina full time.
Her mother Barbara had such a love for Tina, they truly had
a special bond.

Tina was a member of Manifested Glory Ministries under the leadership
of Pastors Barbara and Bernard Stowers. Tina was involved in many
areas of the ministry, blessing and touching the lives of those that
she served. She was apart of the Phone Ministry, Youth Department and
the Women’s Department. The true agape love that Tina displayed was
felt by all who came in contact with her. Her smile radiated the love
that she had inside of her.

Tina was a beautiful, loving, supporting, non-judgmental person who
was always there when you needed her. She was a wonderful wife and a
caring mother.
The relationship she shared with her cousins was the kind of
relationship shared between sisters. She loved many and was loved by
all who knew her.

On February 27, 2009 at 7:45 a.m. the Lord called Tina home. She was
preceded in death by her great grandparents Mason and Frances
Mitchell;
her great grandmother Florence McGrew; her grandfathers Edward Locke,
Sr., Willie Stowers and Walter Brown; her grandmother Sarah Brown; her
aunt Maryann Stowers; her uncle Hollis Mitchell, her cousins Ronnie
Speed,
Gary Speed and Mark Webb.

She leaves to celebrate her life, her loving husband William ‘Rich’
Richardson, Jr.; four daughters, Faith, Grace, Brandy and Jasmine; her
parents Barbara and Bernard Stowers; her father Lloyd Stevenson; her
brothers, Brandon Stowers, Donte Stevenson and Deandre Stevenson; her
mother-in-law Mecolia Richardson; two grandmothers, Mildred Locke and
Edna Burton; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, God-children, other
relative and loving friends. Her Manifested Glory Ministries church
family for whom she had a special love for and who loved her more than
words can say.

I was just thinking about you today. A staff member/good friend passed away on Tuesday. He is now in heaven/glory with you. I thank God for allowing you to be a part of my life. You would be so proud of our beautiful daughters. Faith is in the “Honors” program, Track Team, Year Book Club, Art Club and is her class Senator two years straight. Grace is in first grade and is reading at a 2nd/3rd grade level. She is also participating in her first Science Fair. No one can replace you as their mother, but you would be really proud of Ruselle. She is making sure they stay grounded in Jesus Christ and helping them to become great young ladies. To God be the glory for all the things he has done.
