LOIS M. KING
Lois was born on Oct 18, 1928 in Lowry, South Dakota, the second of four children to Harry and Odelia Sweeney. She spent her early school years in Wyeville Village WI, and her high school years in Chicago IL. Lois married her first husband Robert Johnson in 1947 and had two children, Jan (1949), and Ray (1952). This marriage ended in divorce, and in 1957 she boarded a Greyhound bus and, as a single parent, moved her small family of three from Chicago IL to Yakima WA to be near some of her family. This was followed a couple years later with another move to the Seattle area. In 1960 she met and married her second husband Howard King, who adopted Jan and Ray as his own, and they welcomed a new baby girl, Gini, in 1962. The family thrived happily in the Burien area for many years. In their retirement years Howard and Lois sold their home in Burien and moved to Arizona, first to Casa Grande, and eventually to Mesa. They loved the Southwest and spent many years exploring their new surroundings and welcomed family and friends for visits to their lovely home. In Oct 2012 they relocated back to Washington State, in Olympia, to be nearer to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. On Nov 9, 2015 Lois experienced a bad fall and passed away from injury on Nov 13th. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Howard in January 2015, and son Ray in March 2014. She was buried at Bonney Watson Washington Memorial Park in SeaTac WA on Nov 24th, 2015. Her survivors include two daughters, Jan King (Kerwin Nicholson), Gini Britton (Dale); four grandchildren, Teri Hagstrom (Matt), Nic Britton (Heather), Nakia Bucher, Kayla Rae King; and four great-granddaughters Allyson Britton, Peyton Britton, Everlea Hagstrom, and Harper Hagstrom (expected in March 2016). Many of Lois’s family traditions will likely live on, especially around the holidays, and she will be remembered and missed by her family forever.
So sad and really hard to lose a loved family member. Been thinking about you girls (Jan and Gini) a lot lately. Lots of good times And memories with Aunt Odie…missing Uncle Howard…wishing you both well and sending our love.

Growing up Aunt Lois was always lots of fun. As my Mother Colleen’s younger sister there were lots visiting and sharing holidays and special occasions. She had a great sense of humor and as I grew older we were always sharing jokes. I can still hear her infectious laugh and will treasure the memories in my heart.
My sister, Colleen, and I, being the only surviving siblings of Lois, will miss the presence of our sister in our lives. Lois and I shared the same birthdate with me being 3 years younger. She was one of my first playmates and she was my teacher while playing school. We laughed and giggled our way thru childhood. I have sweet memories of Howard and Lois visiting our Texas home and the fun we had showing them Texas.
I happened to read the obituaries today and noted that this is your mom, Jan. So sorry to read of her passing and just wanted to let you know that I am feeling her loss in your honor. Miss you and have nothing but love to send you!
