Lorraine “Larry” Banek AMMONS
Born Lorraine Kathrine Banek April 28, 1925 to William and Christina Banek in Java, South Dakota. She moved to Gold Bar, Washington in 1927 and graduated from Kent-Meridian High School in 1943. Nicknamed “Larry” as a teenager, she was known by that name for most of her life. On December 24, 1944 she married Vern Leigh Ammons. Vern preceded her in death in 1974.
Lorraine is survived by her three children Linda (Bob), Terry (Linda Ann) and Jeffrey (Ellie); four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Lorraine was a loving mother and willing traveler who was always ready for an adventure and loved spending time with family wherever in the world they may take her.
Viewing Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM with a 2:00 PM service at Bonney-Watson in SeaTac.

Dear Linda and all of your family,
It is with a great sadness that comes when a friend in my life has passed, yet as I begin to remember all of the fun times I have had with Larry I begin to smile and think of what a wonderful person she will always be to me.
When I was very young and Larry was in High School our folks were neighbors and soon our families entwined so we have shared our growing up together. I thought Larry was pretty neat as she was learning to type in school and I sure wanted to be that sophisticated. Back then learning to type was a big deal for this kid. As time went on and Larry and Vern had married I was in high school and still we did things together. We worked picking raspberries in the summer time and went to dances on Saturday night. When Vern was working in Alaska I would spend time in the summer with her at her house helping take care of you Linda and we did fun everyday things. Lots of fun and good laughs. One summer we went with Uncle Cal and Aunt Freda along with Sandy and you on a vacation road trip down the Oregon coast and had a wonderful adventure.
As the years went on and we had our lives to tend to we always sent cards and t Christmas and got caught up at picnics. There are so many stories that I like to remember but most of all Larry was a true friend who was always full of fun and she had a great heart. Along with that she was smart, had spunk and could get things done.
I feel blessed to have had Larry come into my young life and show me what a wonderful person she was. From knowing her it has made me a better person and I will always hold her in my heart.
